It's a right wing canard. Social Security is prohibited by law from investing in anything but t-bills, which Republicans characterize as borrowing. But no that never happened.

Eliminating the cap on taxable income is such a simple and obvious thing to do. Rich people wouldn't even notice the difference.

It's also time to update the tax laws that make much of Social Security taxable. Ideally there should be no tax on it all. It's money intended for retirement that people have paid into for decades. Let them keep it.

So vote for politicians who will preserve. It enough people do that, the 2035 deadline can be extended way out. Just taxing all earned income instead of having a cut-off point at $147,000, which is a gift for high earners. Also note that only earned income is SS taxed, not investment income. Just getting rid of the cut-off point would extend SS big time.

The only time I was ever a registered Repub was when Reagan first ran for President. I registered as a Repub so I could vote against him. I have no idea who I did vote for.

I just went to a presentation at work on Medicare, and it seems like a brutally complicated shell-game designed to not provide benefits.

Thanks for letting me know. I actually thought I needed gap insurance on top of my medicare. I didn't know who to talk to about that.
