I spent four years carrying a rifle in the Army and never once heard the expression "draw one's rifle." I do not recall there having been holsters for our M-16A1's.

Maybe he means like draw a picchur of it (then, what, tape it up on the frigidater?)

Heh. I had a buddy left his leaning against a tree on a beer run during Reforger 83. Draw your own conclusions!

You would have to ask the British monarchs.

Despite their most fervent masturbatory fantasies, the MAGA crowd is not going to foist themselves off their couches and take to the streets when Trump finally gets what's coming to him.

hoist themselves no? unless they have some kind of winch on their couches.

which is not technically outside the realm of possibility.

You're right!

And they won't turn to any of the also-rans eagerly waiting to scoop them up. They'll look at the debate stage line-up and think, "Not Trump."

A few will pop off and find themselves in deep doo-doo.

I refuse to actually watch Trump talk, but in the linked article the screengrabs of his face were...bad. Like, even for him. Is he going to be okay?

Expand full comment

Bad - compared to what?

You know how you can see a lump of dogshit on the sidewalk and it's absolutely disgusting--and then later on you see another where the dog clearly has some kind of issue?

It's a bit like that.

i am in no way concerned about Colton being "forced" to draw his gun. "look what you made me do?!" isn't the threat they think it is.

Expand full comment

Hey Colton, as I recall, the last civil war didn’t work out too well for Georgia. So, go for it, dude.

Especially not the battle of Atlanta

"the one who is concern-trolling about how if we do not stop prosecuting Donald Trump, there’s gonna be a civil war."

`

Because up until now, they've been so bipartisan and reasonable, and not shouty or shooty or death threatsy at ALL.

wow - just wow - how do their supporters look at them and think 'winner'?

Expand full comment

Because in their dialect "winner" and "wiener" sound a lot alike?

Southerners.

Also: Clay and Lee.

This guy and all his co-defendants remind me of the “Sovereign Citizens” that spew bullshit at the cops, the judge, and the jury … all the way to jail.

If sovcits weren't so earnestly annoying, they'd be a hill of fun to watch.

I mean, their guiding tenet seems to be toddler-level "You're not the boss of me!"

.....and, like such toddlers, they need to be firmly reminded that "We ARE, in this case, the boss of you, and you WILL do as told, or the consequences will be unpleasant."

For real toddlers, said consequences include no dessert, going to bed early, and not being allowed to watch your favorite TV show or YouTube channel, or the like.

For sovcits, said consequences should include arrest and (ideally) conviction for whatever statute they abridged as part of asserting their boss-of-themselves-ness.

They're not being tried for speaking out against the election. They are being tried because they falsified documents on behalf of the state of Georgia saying that they were the duly chosen electors of the state (they were not) and then sent it to Congress.

They did the equivalent of forging the teacher's signature on a fake report card before bringing it home to the parents, only the parents already had a copy of the real report card. So now they're in trouble with both the parent and the teacher.

Expand full comment

So your saying the First Amendment doesn’t protect forging signatures on report cards?

Expand full comment

"But, but, but....Freedumbs!11!!"

They're counting on their smooth-brained supporters not to understand the difference.

So he has to fight the devil in GA when the devil’s spawn was right there in the so-called War Room with him? Throwing your lot in with “Burn It Down” Bannon seems like another poor choice in what appears to be a very long string of poor choices. Threatening Fani Willis would be another.

The claim of persecution resonates very strongly with their supporters, notwithstanding the fact that it is in no way grounded in fact.

I'm surprised Evan didn't mention that Colton Moore is from Dade County, Ga - which happens to be in MTG's Congressional district - they sure grow them stupid up there

Hell yeah they do. They voted for MTG not once but TWICE.

and it is the citizens of Fulton County they are trying to disenfranchise because they persist in voting for the wrong people. If you think MTG is the RIGHT people, you should not be allowed to play with sharp objects or matches
