I agree about Iraq and Afghanistan. Vietnam was a fair size, 600,000 troops plus Air and Naval support. Of course the draft was needed. I do agree that a real war with Iran would be much bigger. If memory serves the US did a series of war games back in the 90's about a war with Iran. The results of the first one where the officers taking the side of Iran let out all the stops were pretty awful, oh the US 'won' in the end but at a very high cost (at least one Aircraft carrier sunk along with other ships and oil poduction trade in the middle east in ruins - missiles sucide bombings. terror attacks all across the middle east and even in the US. The sinking of the ships in the Hormuz was part of the plan again if memory serves. Again if i remember rightly the re-did the games limiting what Iran could do but even this one showed it was a tough go.

We on the other hand could invade Iran and win. It would be a hard fight to be sure but we could do it. We could probably do it even if we had to go it alone and others in the region piled in against us. And Israel's border would be secured internally.
