Sometimes People Are Okay
Been ignoring the news? Haven't yet gotten to the terrible happenings in Isla Vista, the college town outside Santa Barbara? Haven't yet watched in horror the video posted by the presumed 22-year-old gunman, who had to kill all those people because girls just wouldn't love him? (You're in luck, it's been removed!) Maybe you should turn off the computer and go outside. It's okay, go ahead.
There will be plenty of stories in the coming days about Men's Rights Activists, and rape culture, and entitlement, and evil. There will be lots of partisan fingerblaming pointgaming, with each of us pointing out something terrible and grotesque tweeted or said by some asshole on the other side of the ideological divide. There may even be stories about maybe possibly doing something about guns, jk jk lol don't get crazy.
So let's just point to this, instead. Do you remember Kurt Schlichter? He's this jackhole, writes at TownHall, occasionally says something legitimately funny on Twitter. I kind of dig him! Why not!
Let's focus on a rare moment of unity and human kindness, before we start doing what we're all trained so well to do.
Let's all be nice for a minute, guys. It might not even hurt too much.
I refused to turn off the snark yesterday. Selfish of me, I know. Somewhat numbed by all this gun bullshit. I guess now I can begin to deal with the news more rationally.
My condolences to Rebecca and to everyone else in here that suffers from mental illness either directly or via its effects on loved ones, or those of us simply inconvenienced by having to remember to take those meds.
This is a problem of mental hygiene. A nation in which a sizable portion of the electorate insists that they are not their brothers' keepers, that taxes are theft, and that all we need are our own guns to protect us is not in good mental health. Period.

I watched that kid's at-the-wheel-of-the-Bimmer video and it made me so sad. How did an attractive, intelligent kid, probably from wealthy family, get so obsessed with pussy?
