I heard an NPR story about how Mexican horror movies were filmed at night in the same studios as English horror movies, so they could use the scenery and space. It was an interesting story.
I heard that story too. It was about Spanish language Dracula finally getting a musical score. Now one of those little factoids I'll carry around for no reason. I wonder what memory it's displaced. Hopefully an awkward one.
"...Ladrón de Cadáveres, the first film to combine luchadores with mad doctors and their creations."
Meanwhile here in America: Ed Wood somehow got Swedish behemoth/golem wrestler Tor Johnson to utter words and managed to turn the camera on long enough to film the whole thing. Tor 'terrifies' the audience in *Plan Nine From Outer Space*
BTW-Abstract painting maestro Gunther Gerzso was a fixture of the Mexican film industry for many years as a set designer and art director. I believe he collaborated with the director of this film to make a vampire movie.
Just finished watching Cinematic Titanic's You Tube stream. One of the films they riffed was 'Blood of the Vampire,' a Filipino film dubbed in Spanish and then into English, and set in 19th Century Mexico. Notable mainly for the fact that servants are in blackface.
The other is an Italian Frankenstein movie, 'Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks.'
I don’t know, you all. Today I am in full despair.
Outside of our bubble, it seems to me like Trump and Vance just keep getting more popular. I read a couple of articles saying they are over-performing with all people under 30, and Black and Latino men of all ages. Then I read one saying Black women are having a smaller turnout this year.
Right now I feel like she might lose the popular vote and the Electoral College. I am over-newsed, sleep-deprived, and seriously considering taking the rest of the day off and just drinking for the next week.
Guys, you have to read the David Roth article mentioned here. It's not just about the oafs and idiots, it lays out one of the best explanations and descriptions of the toxic ooze that is Trumpism and why and how his morons deify him. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you Wonkette for linking to it! https://defector.com/theyre-saying-it
Thank you for keeping posting that Harper's link ... I have read it before and actually think about it a lot, but couldn't remember where exactly it was or who posted it. I agree, it is keeping being relevanting!
For those who haven't read it: "But the frustrated and humiliated intellectual, the rich and scared speculator, the spoiled son, the labor tyrant, the fellow who has achieved success by smelling out the wind of success—they would all go Nazi in a crisis." We can name names!
What a great Tabs today. Several articles I would forward on except FB wouldn't show them and my friends wouldn't bother reading them, but damn, great articles!
Re the cat slow blink, that reminded me to pay a visit to my local cat cafe tomorrow. I can't have cats due to frequent work travel and I need my kitty fix. https://www.luckycatcafe.org in Louisville, KY.

Now do Brazil's "Coffin Joe" (José Mojica Marins)
https://collider.com/coffin-joe-movies/
Scary! Maybe next Halloween.
The movies are fascinating, because prior to them, Brazil didn’t have a “horror movie” tradition.
That scene in The Glades teevee show.
Have you seen Detective Longworth?
What do you need him for?
He messed with my body.
I'm assuming you're referring to a murder victim.
I liked that show.
amusing. Passmore should get more work.

I love him!
"I am not coming to kill you!"
But I will snatch bodies out of your graveyard!
Wait, 'Trix already had her party.
/thinks about something else witty to not comment
That reminds me of the Spanish language Dracula. "Maestro!" cries Renfield.
The Memestress who walks the corridors of the Glambassadorial by night -
Our very own GLAM-pira adjacent to Elvira who copped the whole thing from Vampira?
Perfect Tabs gif for Halloween season - spooky!

I went to a live Cinematic Titanic performance at a local theater. Good times. I don't remember what movie they riffed on.
I saw them live way back too. Pretty sure I saw them do that Frankenstein one!
:-)
Loved the Richard Scary tab!
bernie spoke very persuasively - glad to see he's not letting purity politics get in the way (this time)
He's already decided to crash the economy through his bitcoin "sales". #DeportElonMusk

How is everyone, like, living?
By ignoring doom merchants, panic-pedlars and concern trolls.
I once read an article stating categorically that the soviets had gulags on the moon.

The 1941 Harper’s article is so current. And so chilling. Thanks for continuing to promote this must read.

Beware the feline anal wink, aka The Stinkeye.
That Atlantic article on the Mormon vote is really good. Highly recommended.
Just bought a Kami Superhero Mug!
This will be displayed proudly by my OHJB Fightin' Joe cup.
That is all.
Musk needs his tubes tied, voluntarily or otherwise. His genes are rotten, rotten, I say!
When I think of Terri Garr (may her memory be for a blessing) I always think of Young Frankenstein.
"Nice knockers..."
"Oh sank yoo doktor!" I love that movie. And Teri (z''l).
And Mr. Mom.
Thanks for morning heads up on many things Rebecca . You look great in the ad . Hugs and peace will forward this as always.

When Donald Trump talks about carrying out mass deportations, he means it.
@mcuban spoke with Pennsylvania leaders about the devastating impact that #TrumpsProject2025 would have on communities and small businesses.
