I heard an NPR story about how Mexican horror movies were filmed at night in the same studios as English horror movies, so they could use the scenery and space. It was an interesting story.

I heard that story too. It was about Spanish language Dracula finally getting a musical score. Now one of those little factoids I'll carry around for no reason. I wonder what memory it's displaced. Hopefully an awkward one.

The movies are fascinating, because prior to them, Brazil didn’t have a “horror movie” tradition.

"...Ladrón de Cadáveres, the first film to combine luchadores with mad doctors and their creations."

Meanwhile here in America: Ed Wood somehow got Swedish behemoth/golem wrestler Tor Johnson to utter words and managed to turn the camera on long enough to film the whole thing. Tor 'terrifies' the audience in *Plan Nine From Outer Space*

BTW-Abstract painting maestro Gunther Gerzso was a fixture of the Mexican film industry for many years as a set designer and art director. I believe he collaborated with the director of this film to make a vampire movie.

Just finished watching Cinematic Titanic's You Tube stream. One of the films they riffed was 'Blood of the Vampire,' a Filipino film dubbed in Spanish and then into English, and set in 19th Century Mexico. Notable mainly for the fact that servants are in blackface.

The other is an Italian Frankenstein movie, 'Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks.'

I went to a live Cinematic Titanic performance at a local theater. Good times. I don't remember what movie they riffed on.

I don’t know, you all. Today I am in full despair.

Outside of our bubble, it seems to me like Trump and Vance just keep getting more popular. I read a couple of articles saying they are over-performing with all people under 30, and Black and Latino men of all ages. Then I read one saying Black women are having a smaller turnout this year.

Right now I feel like she might lose the popular vote and the Electoral College. I am over-newsed, sleep-deprived, and seriously considering taking the rest of the day off and just drinking for the next week.

How is everyone, like, living?

Guys, you have to read the David Roth article mentioned here. It's not just about the oafs and idiots, it lays out one of the best explanations and descriptions of the toxic ooze that is Trumpism and why and how his morons deify him. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you Wonkette for linking to it! https://defector.com/theyre-saying-it

When Donald Trump talks about carrying out mass deportations, he means it.

@mcuban spoke with Pennsylvania leaders about the devastating impact that #TrumpsProject2025 would have on communities and small businesses.

1. Purportedly, PAB's TruthSocial is worth more than X today. We know TruthSocial is going to crater on November 6th, but X? First of all, Musk doesn't own all of it - he has equity funds as investors. Second, he borrowed the money to buy it, placing Tesla shares up for collateral. At some point his bankers are going to either ask for a lot more Tesla shares or worse, foreclose on them and force Musk out.

2. IMHO it's very important to remind everyone, all the time, that the last guy who rounded up a bunch of people he didn't want in his country was named Adolf Hitler.
