Just thought I'd mention: we went on a bus tour of the Canadian Rockies 4 years ago, and back then the price of gas in Alberta was $1.50 a liter, or $6 a gallon. I despise TFG as much as the next guy, but Americans too often are entitled and whiny.

Songs about Jane? There can be only one!

And while you're late 70s prog rocking out to whatever iteration this is of Jefferson Airplane/Starship/Hovercraft, know that Substack this morning reports Wonkette "#18 and rising in politics". That's WAY up from its usual 40-something. There is a lag time in tracking and reporting this kind of trend, so keep liking, sharing, recommending -- all the things that drive traffic to the site and train the algorithm to spread teh Wonket!

“ “As I write this, the Washington Post has published at least four articles about Obama’s ‘Cheesecake Factory’ line, and zero articles about a new allegation of rape against Donald Trump,”

If media literacy wasn’t already dead Republicans have fully killed it (MEDIA LITERACY IS A LIE LIKE DINOSAURS TO DISTRACT FROM THE FACT THE EARTH IS 6000 YEARS OLD)

The joke was about Donnie’s interior decorating

The joke was not about the Cheesecake Factory. By trying to make “going to the Cheesecake Factory” a conservative cultural signifier, all you’re doing is you’re saying Donald Trump decorated the White House like the Cheesecake Factory. You’re making Obama’s point for him.

Jen Is Discrete's avatar

the joke was not even about cheesecake factory decor. It was about if Saddam owned one, how blinged out it would get.

It was a Saddam Hussein Joke, not a cheesecake factory joke

Revenant's avatar

I still maintain that the best Jane song is Lou Reed's "Sweet Jane" and the best recording of that is the Cowboy Junkies' cover of it. Margot Timmons ftw!

Hegseth and Blanche seem like two very obvious targets for both impeachment and investigations by the new Congress. I just wish that Democrats could figure out how to make these two, and so many others, household names. Pretty sure your average online and voting Republican knew who Eric Holder was, Garland, Yellen, Lynch, Clinton, etc. Make the Maga cabinet scum famous, then decapitate them (figuratively, please).

Jen Is Discrete's avatar

To be sure, I am VERY sure most americans know who Pete is at least.

And with Blanche on all the shows all the time, many of them might know him

Golly! Who could have known? The Fucktater has fucked a bunch of the very wealthy out of their floating home! A ship on a three year live aboard cruise with 203 passengers (ship could hold over 600) and a crew of 156 on board were told to leave after docking in Cambodia. You may wonder why a bunch of rich fucks had to leave their luxury floating cabins. Well the Fucktater has fucked fuel prices so bad Villa Vie Residences couldn't afford to fill that boat up with fuel. They were supposed to be onboard for another year+. The cruise had the fuel price baked into the passenger costs.

This is how NPR broke it down for us:

The Florida-based company said monthly fuel expenses per cabin that historically averaged $1,800 has recently reached an estimated $6,000 to $8,000 in parts of Asia during the war in Iran. Villa Vie Residences said it sought to reduce fuel consumption by slowing the itinerary and spending more time in port, but was unable to offset the surge in fuel costs.

Here's the NPR link if you'd care to read how devastating this must be - FOR THE CREW! Tax The Rich

Rosy red ASS's avatar

Well, they're wealthy. They can afford to fly home.

Jen Is Discrete's avatar

I mean if they can afford to fuck off on a 3 year cruise, I am sure they will be fine

Rosy red ASS's avatar

My friend's birth mom signed up for a cruise around the world until you die a bit over a year ago. My friend was worried about how that would work. There was money up front and birth mom was ok but not rich. The cruise ended in Singapore in early June because of the gas prices. Birth mom flew back here and stayed until she could figure out what to do. I think she's living in a tiny home community in Alabama now.

Jen Is Discrete's avatar

Wait, they took all the money up front?

Hmmmmm

This is pretty wild. A man took a photo of himself every day for 25 years starting at age 22 and then stitched them all together.

Jen Is Discrete's avatar

That's pretty wild

He shoulda kept the long hair flying mustach around 1:30 XD It was fun seeing that grow longer and longer

PrimerGray's avatar

CC shows the camera he was using and the age he was in the segment. Now that's being dedicated to the bit, as they say.

Jen Is Discrete's avatar

I mean, if the 25 years of daily photos in the same place with the same pose did not convince us of that.

I thought about doing something like that for eldest, for it was an early internet 'aughts parent thing to have a picture of your kid every day., But I lasted 3 or 4 months XD

Then I forgot and never rememebered again. Course I was using actual film and that is pricey

lazy little shits.

We rented an ebike for Tersegirlfriend the other day. Neither of us had ever used one; and I have to say it was really great, and now we're looking to buy one. She could keep up with me, even on the uphills, leave me behind even; and it's not like she wasn't pedaling, she got a workout in, just with a little boost.

Jen Is Discrete's avatar

I might be able to bike again with something like that. My knees are terrible after a life time of up down up down, so hills are now not a thing I can do without tearing pain.
