The question in this case is not whether the Governor acted wisely; it is whether he acted lawfully. We conclude he did not.

So we want a lawful puppet, not a wise leader.

I agree. In theory, we need to limit emergency powers because of executives like Trump. The problem is that the founding folk never anticipated a party that was so stupid it denied reality or so corrupt it just didn't care.

I wonder if the Wisconsin Supreme Court held hearings on this in person or by teleconference. I noticed that the US Supreme Court has extended teleconferencing and banning the public from the building at least through April while they continue to ignore public health concerns due to the pandemic, so it would not be surprising to see the same level of hypocrisy among Wisconsin Republican judges and legislators.
