No one can practice when the law on Monday is different than on Tuesady and there might be a stay on Wednesday but that is reversed on Thursday after you already inserted the speculum.
In the short-term, doctors stop doing even the now-permitted abortions because they fear being swept up in the legal maelstrom.
In the long-term, they stop practicing in the state.
South Carolina is going have to take a stance with finality - not just with a stay that someone else mighty undo - unless they want to lose the doctors they need pretty damn soon.
Note that the state's argument is basically that suspected criminals have a greater right to privacy while being investigated for breaking the law, than a pregnant person has over their own uterus. 🤬
Yes, well I don't like this way they count the fetus as a victim in a murder or shooting of its mother. I don't know if it's so in just some states or what but it's no good. Sad to contemplate this dead mother's feelings but of course she's gone.
