* "The Dot" is 20 years old this year. Almost old enough to drink! It is published by Candlewick Press, local to Massachusetts and publisher of many fine kids books. (No, I am not affiliated in any way.)
* "The Dot" is part of the Creatrilogy, which also includes "Ish" and "Sky Color." These books encourage us all to make art without fear of failure and mistakes, or letting the perfect get in the way of the good. All would make excellent gifts for children.
* Peter H. Reynolds is alive and well. He has a bookshop in Dedham, MA named The Blue Bunny, which stocks his works for kids, among other authors. He has an identical twin named Paul, who runs a studio named FableVision.
* If you can find it at your local library or on line, "The Dot" was turned into an animated short by Weston Woods Studios and FableVision in 2004. It is a really fun video, and was among my kid's favorite stories growing up.
* I wonder if it is too late to become a librarian.
Something has to be done to fix the madness that is Wisconsin politics. Dems get more votes, GOP gets more seats. And this 'peachment crap with the newest Justice is BS! IT MUST STOP!
About that New Republic article trying to figure out why people think they're hurting. Krugman mentioned a poll where 73% Americans think they're doing fine. That's right - THREE FOURTHS of us feel they're economically okay. They're not hurting! And at the same time they think everyone else is slogging through Great Depression 2.0. Say what???
Recently the Alabama legislature told SCROTUS to take a flying f*** and guess what? NOTHING HAPPENED. The SCROTUS police did not descend on the legislature and arrest the miscreants. Not a single member of the legislature suffered any penalty or public opprobrium. Democrats need to take that lesson to heart.
Alabama’s strategy is to run out the clock and then say, “well it’s too close to the 2024 election to change the map now. Better luck next cycle.” Then repeat for 2026.
Tucker is Alex Jones with less cocaine.
The Republican plan of bullshit impeachments and government shutdowns doesn’t make much strategic sense to me. But what do I know.
Kevin is fucked no matter what he does and I am here for it!
"Far be it from me to disagree with the eminent former Wonkette Jim Newell, but I think it’s GREAT that Old Handsome Joe Biden riffed on old John Wayne movies, and I would like to know why The Kids These Days aren’t giving him any props for being on the correct side of John Wayne vs. The Indians, i.e. fuck John Wayne."
I was listening to a podcast on what a bastard John Wayne was and will forever remember the line, "John Wayne's first marriage would end for the same reason all his marriages would - he started sleeping with a teenager in Mexico."
Made me smile this morning (and I needed it.) At the vice president's High Holiday party - "150 or so Jewish leaders joined Vice President Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff, the second gentleman, at their residence for a pre-Rosh Hashanah celebration. The Marine Corps Band played klezmer music." https://forward.com/life/560648/kamala-harris-doug-emhoff-rosh-hashanah/
