Fuck you for that opening comment. That was beyond disrespectful. Very few of our troops care about being thanked for their sacrifice, including my husband. Also, yes, you absolutely do not say "Happy Memorial Day". It is a day of mourning FFS.
I appreciate the article, nonetheless. More people need to understand how important it is to protect bees. So, thank you for that.
Maybe work on your material. My husband and thousands more haven't put their lives on the line just for you to mock them. Do better. Have some respect.
Here’s an interesting video about Boenhoffer’s theory of stupidity. It was a result of Nazi Germany but is extremely relevant today. He was executed weeks before the end of the war for trying to assassinate Hitler. https://youtu.be/Sfekgjfh1Rk?si=6kv5MqR_z9wrAKhG
Excellent analysis. Cliff Clavin interrupts: P.G. Wodehouse placed wealthy, idle thicky Bertie Wooster as a member of the Drones Club -- named for the male bee that does no work of its own and lives off the labour of others.
I got some pics from Yosemite I just downloaded from my big camera.
Sure, there are some stupid ones of me with a gorilla suit. I'll do those next.
What I did see was a wall rescue. This is some of the most incredible flying I've ever seen.
The rotor tips must be fifteen feet from the wall. Look at the shadow. Look how he's tilted the chopper to mitigate wash coming back off the wall. Absolutely stunning piece of control.
It's Hammy who really likes this stuff (get well soon, Hamilton!) but I'm impressed with that image from a technical standpoint.
The lens is wide open at F/6 (its max at that range) at 440mm, ISO 200 and 1/1600 - it's why the rotors appear stopped. That's a nice bit of kit which can do that. I had to quarter size the image before stubsack would allow it.
Oh guys, we had a great troll show up yesterday afternoon asking if we would ever accept a "pro-life" democrat. She was just trying to find readers for her substack LiveJournal, which she bragged has 1600 followers. I don't think she ever clarified whether she meant "pro-life" which most of YOU PEOPLE are (I am not), or "anti choice".
God, I am just SO SICK of the pearl clutching, even from people on our side.
God, every fucking bit of news these days is just fucking depressing. Even the good news is fucking depressing and hopeless. We've got over three and a half years of it left, and it's just fucking depressing. Fuck Netanyahu and the people who brought him to power. Fuck that orange bag of shit, and his voters, too. I guess I'm out of fucks for Putin, even if he doesn't win Ukraine, he's installed enough mercenary armies in Africa that he owns most of the continent.
Lovely day here, but our gas stove is pooched. Tried replacing the igniter, but no joy. Because it's 21 years old, there's little chance of finding the replacement parts. Guess we're stove shopping!
I apologize XD It is early and I really did not think the "let them" bit could have any other meaning. Mind instantly went to all the people being bombed right now and how they really got no choice in the matter. Can for sure now see it was meant as more a defend yourself sort of thing
"SpaceX is responsible for the operation of its vehicle, including in the event of a mishap. The FAA requires SpaceX to maintain liability insurance in the amount of $500 million to cover claims resulting from the launch and flight of the Starship Flight 9 mission."
Oh no! The bee spill in WA is worse than the state patrol thought. The bee men arrived and now it's 250 million bees loose.
In new news, 700,000 bees are loose in WA after the truck carrying them tipped over. Now they are very confused. This was sad.
1. Conservatives are veroa mites.
2. I'm not talking about the Veroamites, whom the Israelites displaced in ancient Israel.
3. We bees need to use our butts more in our waggle-dancing communications with each other.

One of most charming of the many, many gems from The History of the World in Student Bloopers:
"Oedipus, King of The Bees."

Excellent prose, Lord Shy of Pixel!
Me fucking around on the balcony in the Prez Suit at the Ahwahnee.
Gorilla, then me doing Usain Bolt, then me being a scumbag.

I've got more of the helicopter ones, and some interesting half dome pics if you're interested.

Nice. Helicopters have interesting aero characteristics.

That's a great picture.
Do those pilots work directly for the Park Service, or is that work contracted out?
NPS rescue helicopter pilots
That's an exceptional pilot.

I saw part of that..
Wasn't making any sense, so I just ignored it.
It was something. It's always someone promoting their Diaryland.
Did you let em know we already had? Cause Biden was pro life.
He just was not forced-birth
LOL

Fuck it all.
Here's a story I enjoyed recently, and for more than the name "Beaglehole". Kinda visible through the paywall:

How about a nice, cheery a capella harmony?

lol. I had the volume all the way up and I am at work.
Stick it to the man!
Whenever possible.
Oh, that's just wonderful.
That helps, actually.

Ooh, you going to upgrade or get something with special features?!
I would love to upgrade to an induction stove, or a dual fuel model, but they are both too damn expensive. So it's just a new gas stove for us.
Sad. There's a shop near me that carries that kind of stuff, and can order replacements if it's not in stock.
Good morning, despite the necessity for shopping.
Hello!
Good morning! ☺️

It's your fault if someone else kills you reminds me of Williamson's it's your fault if you get cancer for not thinking positively enough.
And Christianity's "It's your fault that God didn't help you out". Let's leave victim blaming to MAGA, shall we?
To be sure, Christianity does not actually teach that. The mammon worshiping that is right wing christianity does, though.
Though Christianity does teach if you are suffering in the after life, that bit is all your fault
I think Hank was referring more to defending yourself . . . but yeah, I get the point . . .
I apologize XD It is early and I really did not think the "let them" bit could have any other meaning. Mind instantly went to all the people being bombed right now and how they really got no choice in the matter. Can for sure now see it was meant as more a defend yourself sort of thing
Everybody is sad and angry about what's happening . . . we must find light where we can, and Hank can be surprisingly enlightening sometimes . . .
The World's Mailman.
Very different pathologies, those two.
Lookie at what $200 million buys you in Trump's "America"

Here's hoping debris rains down on Mar-a-Lago.
Skyway to the danger zone
Fly into the danger zone
Nooo! Not Turks and Caicos!
I have a colleague who has a project there. Still hasn't made the trip.
I want a cool two part name for our country. We could call it States and Idiots.
Or Non-United States.
I have recently decided that we really did not win the Civil War. We lost it because we are forever saddled with red state losers and beggars.
Like a common Bosnia and Herzegovina!
Probably also guarantees that if any debris does cause deaths or damage, the USGov will foot the bill, not Musky.
Good news, everyone!

We pay the $2 billion deductible.
Yeah, that's what it *says* for public consumption.
I'd bet that $500M goes fast.
And to the lawyers
