WTF!!!! Our local news is wallowing in the death of a cop right now - but your story is much more heart wrenching. Where the hell is all that compassion they show when they pull out all the stops for "their fallen brother"?

I'm so sorry for your loss, and how you were treated. The world can be a very unfair place unfortunately.

Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.-Gandalf (The Fellowship of the Ring)

I'm actually a follower of the cult of Mithrandir. He would not be OK with bible god.

But what did Gandalf have to say about all this?

I wish I knew him better, but he posts on Wonkette regularly. Next time I see him I'll pass this on.

One hesitates to paint w/too broad a brush, BUT!! Think back on all the people you went to school with, who later became cops... the ones I knew? I wouldn't trust them with my worst enemy.

It's called the baker act. They don't arrest u. They put u in a mental facility for 72 hours. In fact they can hold u as long as they want. I had to speak to a psychiatrist. She despises this law. She said couples use it on their spouses just to get away from them for 3 days. She also believes it is a judgement call the police are not qualified to make. Thanks for your sympathy. I am humbly greatful.

That seems a bit more turn-of-the-(19th) Century renaissance man to me.

I read that piece by Frank yesterday. He's irked that the Democrats don't have a plan to win back the "working class." Right. He apparently doesn't read the results of exit polls. Assuming by "working class" he means voters with incomes of less than $50,000, guess what? Hillary won a majority of their votes, by about ten points. Trump did best among voters between $50,000 and $100,00.

The notion that the Trump vote mainly derives from mouth-breathing, knuckle-draggers who dwell in trailer parks and make their own meth appears to be false. Trump stalwarts were the usual brand of middle-class, white-collar, church-going, "pro-lifers" who voted for Bush, McCain and Romney.

The most important variable among voters in 2016 was education--the more educated, the more likely to vote for Hillary. So maybe we should turn our attention to how to "win" the attention of the willfully stupid and proudly ignorant among us. Yeah, good luck.

Anyway, his comments were not only not helpful, but based on false information, or no information at all.
