I met Harper Lee and got her autograph. Her name was sullied by publication of her prequel, however. There's probably a reason she was only talked into publishing it when she was old and senile.

Not to mention, we don't really have a "humane" way to go about it (to the extent you could even call it that, which I realize is grotesque because it's still killing a human being). The companies that make the drugs used in lethal injections do not want to supply them for that purpose, so these death penalty-loving states are having to come up with all sorts of inhumane methods in order to maintain the death penalty which is another layer of horrible on top of an already horrible situation. There is no good argument for keeping the death penalty that I can see.

Even if there were a "humane" way to kill someone, the argument is a bit like the one about abortion that mentions 10yo rape victims: it's a deflection from the core point, which is that the death penalty is barbaric.

Well, I'm sure many on the right would use the "he was no angel" excuse for these awful miscarriages of justice. Because, you know, even being a RINO is grounds for the death penalty these days.

It is actually CHEAPER to just keep people in jail for long periods of time. Also, rates of recidivism go down the older the person is when they get out of jail. Not to mention society hasn’t murdered an innocent person.

And get away with it, too.

One of the things I like about OHJB is that he has been appointing defense attorneys to the bench instead of all prosecutors. Hell, Ketanji Brown Jackson was a public defender for a while.

Yes, but in their case it's different. They had good reasons, unlike those lazy libs.

The death penalty is maximum emergency compensatory retributive justice... That's why it is extremely important that those sentenced to the death penalty be given the best possible defense and prosecution evidence of guilt...
