I believe the word pedant is derived from a combination of the Greek paedo and the Latin Formicidae and is defined as a person who is excessively concerned with correcting small errors with regard to minor details of ant larvae

I grew up in a predominantly Catholic neighborhood and attended a Catholic school, as did all of my brothers and sisters. My best friend was Lutheran, not that we ever talked about religion. Actually, the one time that the subject did come up, we agreed that people who were bigots about religion were poopy-heads. But we were just kids, so what did we know.

The thing was, most people in the neighborhood felt the same way.
