The thousands of nice decent private businesses that were driven into bankruptcy when they tried to maintain their right to refuse to make cakes and floral arrangements for black and interracial couples? The churches that lost their nonprofit status when they wouldn&#039;t officiate such marriages?
At the time, it was all over the news, and there were all those studies done, proving what terrible hardship was caused. I&#039;m sure I can find a website with the stats showing how bad it got ... just give me a couple of days.

It&#039;s Russian gas, and EU customers - Ukraine can&#039;t win by pissing off both sides at once. What Putin wants is his Black Sea naval base, and the fucker doesn&#039;t want to pay rent. With or without a short and bloody war, the Crimea is gone; Ukraine will have to get used to it. Possibly cede it to Russia in exchange for getting to keep eastern Ukraine, which is a headache Putin will gladly do without.
