Thanks for letting me know that his status changed from Retired to Temporarily Suspended. Unfortunately, the disciplinary decision does not seem to be available, or at least I couldn't find it. His address is still listed as San Juan, Puerto Rico, which seems unlikely, but what do I know?

HUH.

Hey, Comey, we found your pay for play

Comer, Comer. Let Jim Comey answer for what he actually did, not what some way, way dumber and more corrupt guy did that that guy ought to answer for.

Madame Defarge comes to mind.

Chesebro deserves to meet her.

Any bets on how long before the “much younger wife” wanders off? Now now now I shouldn’t be so cynical. It’s probably Twu Wuv and her name is Buttercup.

Chesebro appears to be an object lesson in the way wealth can rapidly render one stupid and contemptible.

Yeah, that's been one of my key takeaways, that meritocracy in America is kind of a joke, and even people who supposedly passed the bar exam at some point in their lives are often gullible morons and/or really have come to believe they are immune from the direct consequences of their own actions.

If any other group of American citizens had tried to pull this January 6th bullshit, they probably would have been executed en masse by police or the National Guard. But mediocre white guys ALWAYS get the benefit of the doubt, even while criming in broad daylight.

I WISH he were an object lesson. I'd very much like to see Chesebro and Eastman pay for their treason as they deserve, in public, humiliated, without dignity. It might serve as a check on the rest of the GQP MAGAts who think Jan 6th was a LARP and practice.

Don’t work with people you can’t trust? Dude! You knew that they were horrible but didn’t you ALSO know law?

You knew what they were trying to do had no legal standing but you went ahead with it anyway. You’re an idiot.

Gary, this post is just impeccable. Thanks so much for your contributions!

In basically every civil and criminal case, there are opposing counsel on each side. It’s a system that inevitably leads to people angry at lawyers, often for the other side, sometimes their own. But it’s also because being a lawyer is power. Access to the judicial system, the threat of legal action, even the perception that we have powers we may not have. But certainly power is easily abused. It’s a responsibility. And there are good and bad people in all professions. Many lawyers are great people, I’ve met many. And many are jerks and creeps, who I’ve also met.

BillEGoatSmile's avatar

Of my Top 5 list of biggest asshole lawyers I've encountered of the years, the jerkoff who sat atop was disbarred about 3 years after I tangled with him. Insurance fraud. And he got actual jail time off the charges. The schadenfreude!!

Kenneth Chesebro basically stumbled into wealth, through early cryptocurrency investments, and now it appears he's stumbled right back out of it again.

Another length of yarn to add to your ball of laughs. Stupidest man on internet files for bankruptcy. Delicious. https://www.reuters.com/business/media-telecom/conservative-news-site-gateway-pundit-files-bankruptcy-2024-04-25/

What a lovely evening.

As I started to read that was my very first thought.

"The SAME Gateway Pundit who just filed for bankruptcy because he's an idiot? THAT one ...?"

this is great and all, but where is the life-ruination news about Cleta Mitchell?! there must be consequences for all these rogues … especially those who lent the efforts their patina of respectability.

Resource NW's avatar

Sooner or later Fanni will slap Ms. Cleta with a subpoena to testify in Georgia about a certain phone call. Dear Ms. Cleta will not be allowed to claim "I don't recall." I wonder if she can sing, or will just lipsynch to a good recording.

THIS RIGHT HERE 👆👆👆

She had to leave her private law firm bc she interfered in GA elections, but that wasn't enough to get her booted off a FEDERAL ADVISORY BOARD for NATIONAL ELECTIONS 😠😠😠

we need to watch these people like hawks … 👀 … news organizations should forget the GOP campaign coverage; news beats assigned so Ms. Mitchell doesn’t make a move we don’t know about.

Damn dude; I get a little thrill when the video game podcast I follow chooses my question to answer or weird news submission to read, so I get the desire to be known and heard by someone you like. There’s a freaking limit, though.

The late Molly Ivins, blessed be her name, used a joke I had told her during a reception when she later got to the part of the event where she spoke -- I will carry that proudly always.
