Regarding the cynicism (which certainly would be justified in other comparable situations) that this is just a ploy: if the dissolution of the organization was financially-driven, then why did he make such an unambiguous statement completely renouncing its stated purpose and admitting that his ministry up to that point was wrongful, profoundly harmful and not in keeping with the foundations of his faith? If the cynics are right then he would have been more likely to have issued a much more weaselly statement.
