IANAL and not a SCOTUS historian, but it is very hard for me to imagine any other Court being worse than the Roberts Court. I am aware of some awful decisions, but no Court has done more, across the breadth of its rulings, to destroy democracy in the United States and that would seem to make it the worst. Is being the Chief Justice of the worst SC in the history of the country really the legacy Roberts is trying to leave for himself?

I didn't hear any soundbites from Alito and Thomas but I did from Sotomayor and Jackson.

They both pointed out the obvious but they know...I can tell by their tone of voice...only United States citizens are hearing them, not the Immoral Majority.

Wasn’t it Alito who wrote that a high school football coach praying on the 50 yard line with players from both teams present and with a bullhorn, was a “private, personal prayer”?

Ta, Gary. We understand the assignment. Every Democrat and D-leaning Independent must vote, from sea to shining sea, for whichever Ds end up on our ballots. We have to throw the bums out.

I hope Newsom tells these corrupt fucks to put their ruling (which everyone knows will be against California) where the sun doesn’t shine.

The California maps stand and you racist, sexist, bought off bastards, have no army.

Never a fan of the Theory of the Unitary Executive I've always viewed the President as a sort of Project Manager whose job it is to adhere to the specs as detailed on the P.O. -- to put it in "Business Terms".

Environment. Economy. Culture. Can't be sure of exactly which circle, but totes sure that we're already there.

What will they say when Kraznov proclaims Congress and the Supremes are dissolved?

Hank Napkin's avatar

Depends on what position they'll be angling for in the TRUMP ZONE.

Thomas and O'Kavanaugh are credibly accused sex pests, but Alito remains the most loathsome figure in SCOTUS.

Makes perfect sense if you don't think about it.

They don't think about anything, just double and triple down on what they want irregardless of its sanity, probability, morality or consequences.

Since the SCOTUS hasn't raised any objections to the obvious politicization of the DoJ, I hope on Jan 20, 2029, President AOC uses that power to initiate bribery investigations of the MAGA six. No need to pack the court when you can get at least four empty chairs out of that.

PuraVida's avatar

Good idea. Anybody know the statute of limitations for bribery?

25 years ago tomorrow, Stephen Breyer warned us about the impact of Bush v. Gore on the Supreme Court.

History has proven him entirely, resoundingly right.

Oh if we could only have a Democrat as president, ready to take advantage of all the perks and benefits provided by this current Court. Let's hope they rue the day that they made the decisions they now have in place.

I'm sure you already know this, but that isn't how it works. Their decisions are motivated by partisanship. Biden was overstepping his authority to forgive student loans, but it's fine and dandy for Trump to do it.
