Religion is a means to get power over other people and to become an authority in your clan/tribe/village/community. The self-hatred is taught; it's part of the program. It is a consequence of religion, not a cause.
Before you can be convinced to seek redemption, you first need to be taught that you need it.

Authorities say Balyo allegedly paid another person, who is a defendant in another child exploitation case, to arrange for sexual encounters with minor victims.
OK (randy) Randians, here is your new Objectivist hero!
FYI, no longer "allegedly" - they guy admitted to raping/sodomizing a 12 year old. Jesus Fucking Christ. Yeah, not just molesting, fucking raping a 12 year old.
I've been looking into this here Christianity thing. It seems to be unhealthily fixated on the torture and execution of a lot of people. The more extreme the torture, the better. Lots of obsession with naked bodies in pain.
The second main point seems to be the idea that life on earth doesn't matter; only the next life has any importance. Hence, none of the following things matter: laws, reality, facts, what society thinks, how well you are integrated into society, what you do with your life. Anything bad that you do or that happens can just be dealt with through absolute unhesitating belief that there is a next life after you die.
So you have a pretty toxic mix here: perverse obsession with the body and with torture, combined with a belief that total, unwavering dedication to this obsession is the path to heaven and nothing else matters.
Of course, there's a chunk of the Bible that focuses on some Jewish itinerant preacher named Jesus, who had rather different ideas about religion, but mostly that part seems to get ignored.
Baylo blames it on (shitty childhood / job stress / frigid wife / Satan / liberals), checks himself into rehab in 4...3...2..

But keep in mind, family man Barry O is still the Ultimate Evil in the world today.
