She looks like the WH's actual mommy figure. But mommy said too much, maybe she shouldn't have had wine with her lunch, or whatever. But a skilled interviewer is a skilled interrogator, and perhaps it was tea that Wiles spilled instead of wine.
Fuck Susie Wiles. We don't need tales of palace intrigue. If you're affiliated with this White House, you are persona non grata forever. The cognitive dissonance of people like Wiles makes me wonder how they can get out of bed in the morning, let alone function.
Yet I'm sure she's fixed for life financially, which is always the only concern of assholes like her.
Wiles fell into the trap of vanity (ha ha) during these 11 interviews, she accepted the invitation to be interviewed, her first mistake. Then she got comfortable enough with the reporter (great job!) to run her mouth. I don't think I could avoid saying at least one dumb-ass thing over the course of 11 interviews, I'm guessing her most reported quotes were near the end of the marathon.
What can I say except boy, is she dumb. About the level of dumb possessed by others in the Trump administration
Once again reiterating that it’s mediocre dipshits who find solace and pride in things that are arbitrary and out of their own control, like genes and heritage.
Someone was saying the other day that "fake news" has turned into a tell for "this is a subject I don't want to deal with."
It always has been, really, but lately PAB has been applying the term to things that aren't even news. Just shit he doesn't even want to try his usual "I only read the back cover of the book" bullshit approach on.

Sketch the storm and put your feelings on the paper.
I find proximity to materials is very helpful.
Years ago, are used to get the urge to play some music, but by the time I had located an instrument, sheet music, a pencil, a pencil sharpener, etc., etc., the urge or the time available would have passed.
I mentioned the bedroom for my daughter all through college, but one time after she graduated and had an apartment of her own, she came up for a visit. After I had taken her to the airport and kissed her goodbye, up the door of her room, and stood there in shock. She had decided to try on every item of clothing that she had left here, and left them evenly distributed over every flat surface in the room, including the floor. I shut the door and processed.

He lied.

Jones made the whole thing up for theatrics. The book titles came from a list made by a private group that is not associated with the school. It was recommended for parents who might need to address those issues at home, not for teachers at school.
[...] He didn’t get those books from the CHCCS libraries. He bought them himself. Or had someone buy them for him. They were little more than props.
Well...here's something I should have known already: Book Looks, the org spun off of Moms For Liberty to provide their own book "rating" lists (and was probably used here), has gone belly up, in a cloud of evangelical drivel:

The photographer is an artist, and a hilarious one to boot. I read somewhere that they all look like the staff of a mid-priced hotel, instead of projecting “power” like they thought they were, which was spot on.
The context missing that we must stretch to get is that Susie Wiles is more than an enabler and extension of an abuser fulfilling his will -Susie is an abuser, who is entirely comfortable at home in this White House with a cabinet full of power abusers. Her way of not so subtly slighting others is her way to remain in her position of power and manipulate perceptions to make people think she’s the reasonable one. This is a dynamic of a dysfunctional family with serious addictions and she admits to this being her expertise and these interviews make the White House family appear relatable, rather than what they are- toxic.
Part of the harm of being raised by an alcoholic is how readily and easily their children fall into this dynamic in adulthood, in their personal and work relationships, instead of being repelled by the toxicity like someone who wasn’t habituated to it as a child.
Instead of getting therapy and healing her trauma, she monetizes it apparently.
Yes and as Susie is succeeding in an environment full of vipers Susie is likely a viper. With healing she probably would have been a humane human. Instead look where she is. Oh the harm unhealed people do!
Maybe, but maybe it's as Martin suggested. I also grew up with alcoholics, so maybe there is a “familiarity” to it - you know how to navigate something like that when “normal” people wouldn't.
But there's certainly something else pulling back into that at her big age. I'll assume she incompetent like the rest of them, so these positions are the best she could ever hope for.

The second thing ... many are confident now that it is okay to say the emperor has no clothes. His retaliations have proven to be worthless and toothless in most cases.
Kick 'em when they're down might become the new mantra.
I am a huge believer in "Let's get the fascists out and THEN clean up the house" because I feel it is pointless to attempt to clean the house while the pigs are still shitting in it.
However.
I do not think I will ever, ever, forgive those "journalists" who loftily tell us that we should enjoy the shit and give it a chance because both sides or whatever. All the while just running cover for their billionaire owners who were using their outlets to prop up the fascist.
So now what exactly is the MAGA piece of shit GQP plan for health care? Our employers will no longer provide coverage and instead, they give us HSAs and we pay for our health care out of those? Isn't that what my FSA is for? And what about when my costs exceed my HSA? With insurance, I had an out of pocket max and the rest of my expenses were covered by insurance. How is that going to work with the HSA? Who is going to track that? Another thing, how will enrollment in the program be? Will it be long and torturous like getting on Social Security or disability? This plan is nothing more than deconstructing a shitty system to begin with. Always never forget: It was Romneycare before it was Obamacare.
I made the difficult decision this week to forego my ACA coverage this year. With premiums on my current plan increasing to $1200 a month with a $6k deductible, that’s over $20k a year before insurance covers anything. Also, there were very few doctors and hospitals that are even in network. Hopefully I’m better off just self-paying directly to healthcare providers, which I already had to do a lot this year because it wasn’t covered by my insurance. I’ve found that those providers generally work with me, because self-pay saves them the hassle of trying to get paid by the insurance company.
Even “catastrophic” coverage was almost $1k a month. How fucking insane is that?!
It's free market fantasy at its finest. If consumers pay directly from their savings funds, costs will magically go down, because consumers will shop around for lower prices. Never mind how few Americans really have a choice that doesn't include driving 50 miles or more.
True. But this worse than that. It's also a complete lack of understanding of how many parts of the country have just the one hospital, or just the one doctor, so there's no possibility of competition unless people start driving hours away to seek medical care. And a lack of understanding that some people already do that and still only have one option.
It ain't just the square states. I'm in California and there's only one hospital within a twenty minute ambulance ride away. The next closest one is more than an hour. Neither of them are designated as trauma centers, so they're just going to stabilize you and fly you out to Reno, and you just gotta hope your insurance crosses state lines.
I am all for everyone having the option to choose their health insurer, but I have ZERO confidence that the for profit insurance industry will implement any kind of price controls.
Most people don't really have that option now, and it's not what the fantasists are really counting on anyway. They're counting on competition between doctors to lower prices, which isn't happening.
And will never happen: the cost to have liability insurance for a doctor is too damn high and then, who the hell would enter the field now? Supply will shrink, demand will remain, and the prices will go UP, not down.
My sister had her gallbladder removed several years ago for free! She went into the hospital on a Saturday with pain, but couldn’t get it removed until Monday, so that was a 2-night hospital stay + the surgery. Apparently, the hospital was switching to a new billing system over that weekend, so they just never billed her. It wasn’t until months later that she realized it.
That’s probably not a solution for most people, though.
I endured gallbladder attacks from age 25 to 30, when my ob/gyn ordered an abdominal ultrasound that uncovered the gallstones and I finally had surgery. Because I was young and thin, and my symptoms presented more like a heart attack (chest pain, sweating, inability to breathe), I had multiple ECGs (always fine), so my attacks were written off as panic attacks. I didn’t know that I had a history of dodgy gallbladders on my mom’s side. Was such a relief to have it removed!
I'm so glad they found it! Similar deal with my kid, they had abdmonial pain and nothing was showing up until they did a HIDA scan. It showed their gall bladder was just not doing anything.
Big relief after removal and no more awful gut pain episodes.
And it's not like you're going to tell the EMTs to hold on a minute while you make some calls to decide which hospital you want to go to in an emergency.
"Hey guys, I know I'm bleeding out here, but I'm trying to decide between a $50 discounted fee and two $30 gift cards to Outback."
Also, the pumping water from the bathtub into the washing machine experiment was a success. Teensy little bit of a learning curve, ngl, but it left maybe a quart of water in the bathtub, and the long hot up to my shoulders soak, sorely needed (ha!), filled the washing machine. So that’s pretty cool. It’s on the rinse cycle right now, and as soon as it’s done, I’m going to bed.
I’ve got to take a hot bath here too—I’ve had really bad pain in a weird place on my neck and heat is the only thing that helps—a little too early to do it here because it would annoy my new neighbor downstairs.
The tub to washing machine situation sounds clever!
Wasn't the point. The point was to make that shit mainstream.
Now that Texas is hereby demanding chapters in every school, I can't say it did not work. They're just Christians! Ignore all the stuff about how their aim is to remove civil rights from anyone not white, christian and male!
They, the rich and the christofascists, have been working towards this moment since the 1980s. Now that it's here, they're finding that they are too late. the majority of America has moved on from "christian" churches and oligarchy. It will be a nasty fight to the bitter end.
She looks like the WH's actual mommy figure. But mommy said too much, maybe she shouldn't have had wine with her lunch, or whatever. But a skilled interviewer is a skilled interrogator, and perhaps it was tea that Wiles spilled instead of wine.

Don't get confused. The proven rapist Trump only calls women "Trump" to remind him which ones he doesn't want to fuck.

Also, what accomplishments on the economy?

Hello fellow NCer! Garner resident here. Maybe being a big-ass crook is a prerequisite for success in local politics, or pretty much anything else.
I would rather have said this as a DM but I can’t find a way to send you one, but we’re in the same town! This is a first for me.
why the fuck is there a town manager and a mayor?
I can see some savings right away!
Cary is pretty big and it has a lot of wealthy people living there. I can see how they'd need a manager to handle money and some other things and a mayor for mostly political stuff.
I've been awake all night again and finally just gave up. I'm about to go pour my second cup of coffee while I cringe over the morning headlines.
Think nice stable thoughts about paul and I today. Our area is apparently going to experience extremely high winds with gusts >70 mph. Our house sits beneath a couple of lofty bull pines and some substantial boughs have been blown into the side of the house before. I have bad dreams about one of them falling on the freakin' roof.
I know what you mean. I have some poplars a little too close to the house, very big. I have a lot of confidence in the trusses, but still.
Try doing some art work. I had one night last week where I went to bed, self righteously early, and laid there for about three hours until I said the hell with it. It took out some painting supplies, and started playing, and by morning I had this, and then I was ready to go back to sleep. https://substack.com/@ontheotherhand124816/note/c-186936853?utm_source=notes-share-action&r=106di

Some fool thought maple trees up close to the house was a great idea.
Pro tip: don't plant maples up close to your house. The roots AND the branch shed doth offend

I do not think I will ever, ever, forgive those "journalists" who loftily tell us that we should enjoy the shit and give it a chance because both sides or whatever. All the while just running cover for their billionaire owners who were using their outlets to prop up the fascist.
Part of getting the fascists out will be breaking up the media conglomerates and removing much of it from those billionaires.
☝️☝️☝️
So much that.
The complete lack of understanding of how the finances of insurance work is just appalling.
True. But this worse than that. It's also a complete lack of understanding of how many parts of the country have just the one hospital, or just the one doctor, so there's no possibility of competition unless people start driving hours away to seek medical care. And a lack of understanding that some people already do that and still only have one option.
Add to that the finances of all rural health care, and, well, don't live in a square state if possible.
I am reading a lot about doctors offices switching to their own subscriptions. I would totally go for that through my city owned hospital.
And will never happen: the cost to have liability insurance for a doctor is too damn high and then, who the hell would enter the field now? Supply will shrink, demand will remain, and the prices will go UP, not down.
It's gall bladder removal, what could it cost? $10?
My sister had her gallbladder removed several years ago for free! She went into the hospital on a Saturday with pain, but couldn’t get it removed until Monday, so that was a 2-night hospital stay + the surgery. Apparently, the hospital was switching to a new billing system over that weekend, so they just never billed her. It wasn’t until months later that she realized it.
That’s probably not a solution for most people, though.
Timing is eveything.
My kid had theirs yoinked, and it made a world of difference. I think they were on their state's Medicaid program and it was free.
My bill was about $8K total...
Really?
Honestly, that sounds relatively cheap.
"At least let me get a handle on those arterial bleeds..."

Why would you taking a bath annoy your neighbor?
It’s not incredibly loud but you can definitely hear the water running, especially at this hour when there’s no other sound.
Also, she just moved in Monday so I want to be extra nice until she’s used to the various creaks and sounds of the building.
you are good people, Babe
Noise from the plumbing, I reckon. I can hear it every time my upstairs neighbor flushes or runs the shower.
You aren't worried about soap in your clothes? My mom always told me to never put soap in a washer because it would over suds.
No soap, just a soak. It’s not so much the clean as just hot water on sore muscles, and/or a warm-up.
If OTOH is taking Japanese-style baths, where she's only soaking and not washing herself in the tub, then it's not an issue.

Before her husband was killed, nobody knew who they were. Bari fixed that.
1960s at least, though I still put it back to the stabbing of Teddy by the business faction
Makes sense. The supplement industry is what's funded much of the far right conspiracy machine anyway.
The stills I saw of the interview really did make her look like she just had a default expression of "mean as a snake".
You should see the video. The woman is a fucking psycho.
She was married to That Guy, after all, and appears to believe in the same bullshit he did. So I can't say your assessment surprises me.
More or less psycho than Katie Miller?
OH MORE!
