Yeah.On a much more minor scale, both my former employer and my mom tell me similar things--"Stop overreacting--just let it go!" Sometimes that's the same advice I'd give myself. Sure--someone doesn't say good morning, you figure they're having a bad day (or even that maybe they hate you). That's a "let it go" situation.Certain things though--people rely on other people not speaking up and then they eventually think that nobody's speaking up because they agree, and at a certain point if you don't speak up you are agreeing.

My idiot janitor is increasingly spouting hateful and untrue ideology at work. When I told mom about how obnoxious it was, and that I was upset and mildly pushing back ("Wow--we just had 3 people test positive in the office for covid and you're not wearing a mask?") it was very much, "You need to relax".

NO.

Paid surrogacy is still illegal in several states, I think. I wonder if that's going to change after Roe?

Hahaha! Who am I kidding?!

Pence is now speaking about how people need to elect republicans and end the influence of Biden and the liberals.

Some of us knew him. And Cecil Andrus. Hell, Richard Stallings was a sane, Democratic Representative in the 1980s.

He still thinks republicans play fair and are good people. Sucker ... if not for the Capitol Police, you'd be dead or maimed.

So, this is telling us that it is not just the present day or pre-Civil War times or something, the Senate (and the electoral college, and the Supreme Court) have stood in the way of progress, equality, and democracy itself, for our entire history.

In fact, LBJ actually lied about Stevenson, saying he was soft on anti-unionism, which helped tip the election to the newcomer.

Well, that and infamous Ballot Box 13 and the help of the Duke of Duval County, George Parr.

Ol' Landslide Lyndon wasn't about to lose the senate election in '48, no matter what it took.

In fact, as the nation’s political institutions sprint to the far right under Republican control, we can expect the courts to declare much of what unions do illegal in the next several years. One is reminded of what the NSDAP did to workers and the unions in Germany.
