"Unless that’s just me. It could be just me."

Nah...

Rafael Cruz is Canadian. In fact, Cuban-Canadian. He is in no position to tell anyone about the legitimacy of this country. Because he, himself, is illegitimate.

Don't tell his dad, that's supposed to be a secret that Mama Cruz has kept all these years.

''During this discussion, Cruz complained that those he considers to be on the “far left” — such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and others who would be relatively centrist in most European nations — think that America is “fundamentally illegitimate.”''

Thank you for this, Robyn, as this is related to something I have said a number of times, and often to nasty reponses.

That thing is that the majority of democratic countries believe that the Democratic Party of the US is centre-right at best, while the Republican Party of the US is extreme right

This does not mean that there are no liberals in the Democartic Party, just way fewer than people think. It has been getting better in recent years, but there is still a long way to go.

In US parlance, I suggest those on the far left term themselves "progressives," not "liberals." Those of us who consider ourselves "liberals" are usually deemed as "right-wing" by the more "enlightened" denizens of "progessiveville."

In my parlance, I have always been a progressive liberal, and yes, I realise that there are "enlightened" denizens of "progessiveville" as they are rife in my town.

I invented a phrase for those here who are NOT whet they claim...

Faux progressives, fake liberals, and looney leftists™

For years we had a mayor who fit into as least the first two catagories, but not the last because he was not crazy, but devious, In his last term, there was an initiative to make a local greeb new deal. Although the town does not lack people who could do it, a ''search'' was made and two people were hired at $20,000 each. What they found was something that needed no explanation whatsoever caues it was things people had already been doing. Ther two people worked for a DC organisation. Earliy this year, the mayor resigned to get a plum job at the DC group.

In other scams, he wanted to check out how needling sharing works. Never mind there are plenty of US cities much close he could go to, but he chose Vancouver, British Columbia, I prumes to get a nice taxpayer-funded vacation.

Finally, I have always called him [first name] Trump because in his reign of error, he had more expensive and unnecessary large buildings built, mostly from upscale hotel chains with apartments attched allegedly for the ''poor''. $1200 and over for a one-bedroom is not realistic in my town. I pay much less for half a house!

Comme on dit, plus ça change, plus c'est la même merde!

"Neuer Tag, neuere Scheiße" would be the German equivalent!

Portland is our center of left-wing idiocy. All kinds of people willing to save democracy from itself.

Can we bribe the Canadians to take Teddy back?

Even in USD, we don't have enough in the Federal Reserve for that.

That's poutine it mildly.

I'll see myself out.

I have people in my paternal grandmother’s background who would have drowned Ted Cruz’s parents. Even if they had made it in legally. Try that on Teddy!!! You aren’t white enough! Do you like that? Neither do I!!!! It’s bull💩. As for the Italians and the Jews and the Arabs and everyone else - Michigan here so guess what Detroit! United we stand!!! That’s what makes this country STRONGER not weaker! Mutts are stronger - always have been!! Don’t let the “biological purity” jackasses bs you!

I always have to laugh at racist Latinos screaming about discrimination against white people. Who the hell on their side ever told them they were "white"?

I wish we could send Ted Cruz back to Canada.

Seriously, fuck him. There is no human being on this planet who is more filled with sanctimonious, self-serving bullshit. He does nothing at all for the benefit of the people of this country. He doesn’t even really have an political agenda. All he does is spew this nonstop garbage to promoting himself. It’s just about his “brand” as a purveyor of bullshit.

Robyn, I think your existence in this country is a strong argument for the advantages of allowing people from other countries to come to the US and even (gasp) 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘦 here.

Rupert Murdoch, however, makes the opposite point.

Jeez, you'd think a guy who graduated from Harvard would have learned that it was Southern conservatives who wanted to remain indefinitely indentured to the King and Northern liberals like Adams, Franklin, Hancock, Hopkins, etc. who led the fight for independence. Ah, but what do facts matter when you've got a trainload of fairy tales to sell to the rubes.

Ta, Robyn. I'm only second generation myself.

The problem with Ted Cruz is that Ted Cruz really believes that the Rafael "Ted" Cruz who is the child of an immigrant father can not be him.

"“Some of those nuts believe America shouldn’t exist, that our existence is fundamentally illegitimate,” Cruz told Fox’s Maria Bartiromo."

A strawman is not any statement that you disagree with.

A strawman is not even a statement that has been demonstrably proven wrong.

A strawman is when you deliberately misrepresent your opponent's statement, because you have no facts or evidence to counter-argue what they actually said.

Consider this your daily reminder that every conservative argument is a strawman.

It sure is funny to hear people with last names like Bartiromo and Cruz complaining about immigrants.

Also people with Irish surnames.

Liz TAUGHT at Harvard, where Cruz was apparently able to attend although perhaps all of the law info did not sink in. I'll go with Liz on this one. Even if Cruz gets a pair of Rick Perry SMRT glasses.
