I honestly, honestly, don't know how anyone is able to do that, unless they are in the process of planning a real serious "revenge is a dish best served cold" meal. I couldn't. Yeah it was disgusting. Ralph Reed bragged about "delivering South Carolina for W" and it was a well established Karl Rove trademark to use whisper campaigns to spread really disgusting lies about his opponents. There's even audio of a South Carolina elected official telling Dubya to hit McCain in his soft spots and Dubya telling him he was going to. Disgraceful. I lost all respect for John McCain the moment I saw him embrace a guy who did that to him....even Ted Cruz has more honor and self respect.
It is awfully convenient, though, that in standing up for his wife and father Ted also managed to launch his 2020 campaign. What would have been completely honorable (and not at all self-serving) would be Ted announcing that he could neither endorse Trump, nor continue to run for president, because he was devoted to his family.
I will give him some credit for standing with his wife and father--not a lot. I think if the circumstances played in a way that throwing them under the bus would get him the presidency, he'd do it in a hot fucking minute. I'm basing this on his other very public displays of political opportunism and venom. If Trump promised him a position of real power that would move Teddy closer to the oval, and if it weren't so well known that Trump lies and doesn't keep his promises, booger lips would have been endorsing the hell out Donny every night of the convention.
