So it seems that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Moose Jaw) fancies himself something of a Simpsons fan, as he told The Federalist's Ben Domenech in a recent podcast. He even did lines from his two favorite episodes, proving that he can relate not only to country music aficionados,
I can *kind* of see how Cruz could be a genuine fan of "The Simpsons." I mean, part of what made the show's golden age seasons brilliant was that it managed that neat trick of being political but not too partisan or ideological (unlike, say, "South Park", which has way too many episodes that just turn into Libertarian screeds), and there are episodes like "Home Sweet Homediddly-dum-diddly" that make government agencies look like inept villains. But really I think liberals and conservatives can look at something like "Homer Badman" and see either social justice activists run amok or the consequences of a profit-driven media and still see it as great satire either way.
But, yeah, given his track record of interpreting things it wouldn't surprise me if Cruz did see those seasons of "The Simpsons" as an uncomplicated validation of middle-class American life.
Homie had some times of reflection in which he could see himself in the Stanley Kowalski character or explained how women weren't just people with curves that drive you crazy, or when he realized the lesbian bar had no fire escape. That's why he's my avatar even though I'm a brown and female feminist.
"And that, children, is why the Emperor's new clothers were, too, resplendent and why we have to cut off funding lunches for children, to encourage them to work and stop criticizing their betters. Come back tomorrow and Uncle Rafael will tell you why Br'er Rabbit was the smart one."
heh heh, jenna's funny.
Spoilers!!!
Extra props for the correct spelling of "Wookiee"!
Oh please. For half of them, that "filthy slut" is THEM.
It's nice that Ralph Wiggum decided to run for president.
Ralph and a klown stretch limo filled with Ralph clones.
Ted Cruz is the first presidential candidate who's politics make little girls cry. http://wonkette.com/579785/...
you refer to "slut" as if it's a bad thing. I call them sexual freedom fighters!
You and I, movin to the beat of a different dumb.

Middle-class American life is another thing about which he knows nothing.
I thought Santorum beat him to that punch.
We lost Terry Pratchett but we still have George Will. Brutal.
