So THAT happened. Ted Cruz came out Wednesday night and gave the GOP convention a good old conservative fire-and-brimstone speech about freedom and stuff, and while it started off with a nice conciliatory gesture, congratulating Donald Trump for winning the nomination, nobody's going to be talking too much about what Cruz said in his speech. They'll be talking about what he didn't say, which was any hint of an endorsement of Trump. He was
What are you saying? He knows all the best parables! Loves the parables, everybody thinks he loves the best parables! Two Scorpions, that's his favorite. The best. Yuuuuge with the parables. And the reading. The best, everybody says it.
It's been so long since I've seen "Angels in America" that I barely remember. I think it's when the angel appears to Prior Walter. I just remembered the image.
So wait, if he meant you don't have to vote for trump, but you're still gonna vote... Did he mean to endorse Gary johnson? Cause he couldn't have been suggesting.... No, no. He couldn't have.
It is hard to avoid the conclusion that the key people in the Trump operation, inexplicably, did not read Cruz's speech or did not read it closely enough to take cognizance of this critical passage.
Based on the incredibly stupid things Trump's campaign staff has allowed to happen, I have no doubt Cruz's speech went right over their heads.
Yeah, no, Ted is like that oblivious asshole we all knew once who was always all bruised and limping from bar fights he caused, but who was always like, I dunno man, these guys just JUMPED me!
Actually, I think he's such an off the charts narcissist, he's much too grandiose to suspect Cruz doesn't admire him as much as he believes everyone does, so I'm sure this caught him completely off guard. Also, he's unable to to plan ahead to that extent. That would require empathy and the ability to think strategically, two abilities he's repeatedly demonstrated he does not possess and has never needed in his privileged life.
I was thinking Joseph Stalin right after Operation Barbarossa. Totally caught him flatfooted. He and his buddy Hitler had an understanding, didn't they? How could he stab him in the back like that?
I dunno. I wouldn't say it took courage, because I think he's arrogant enough to believe no one would take umbrage because they're too stupid to figure out what he was up to. As a matter of fact, I'm kind of surprised he was wrong about that. But I think the umbrage stemmed more from indignation at Cruz's slights to the image of their hero than Cruz's dickishness for getting his revenge.
I also do not think they are saying "Bruuuuce" as you hear at Springsteen concerts
Hope he has a ghost writer hanging around those hotel rooms...

That and Roy Cohn dying. Hard not to applaud.

Love it! That warms the black little cockles of my filthy little heart!!

Pure vindictiveness.

I was shouting Boo-urns

I dunno. Let's try it.
Yapping Yam!! Can't stop sniggering.
Yes. He's grandiose, and he's been coddled his whole life. Cruz caught him completely off guard, and knew he would. Well played, Cruz. Ya joik.
