That top photo is just beautiful. The handwriting on both signs is so similar – Did the father make both signs? Did the son? Do they just have the same handwriting?

I love all the possibilities.

OT: I was checking out a link someone posted downthread and there was an ad targeted at me for the election. "Chris Pappas cosponsored a bill to give amnesty to ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS." Source HR 3599.

Dipshits. The bill was sponsored by Maria Elvira, R-FL and cosponsored by 8 other Republicans, including Mike Lawler.

5 days of a firehose of bullshit and lies and racism and misogyny and corruption coming at you thanks to the unfettered money being poured into every corner of politics.

tempusfugit's avatar

Yes. Well said.

The cult of 'cool' is for assholes who live on social media and the toxic stews of their phones, who never consider other people *or* their feelings and have no idea of what it is to be human.

First of all, all dads are corny. Using the term corn is corny. Secretly, your offspring respect what you're doing but it would be better is you were wearing a tuxedo instead of That Corny Hat. My late father was an honest man and stood upright whenever speaking at a meeting, and his co-workers clearly respected him. 40 years after he died, I still wish we had been friends.

This is a great article, Denny. Often men and boys will dismiss or wave away women's concerns about systemic misogyny and sexual assault when they're not outright denying these problems exist on a large scale. But when a man brings up these issues they're more likely to listen well and think more deeply about these topics, particularly when it comes from a man they admire and look up to. I appreciate you highlighting this subject. It's a very worthy battle to keep on the forefront of salient issues that women face on a daily basis.

As an old white guy, I approve this message. Remember when we used to just try to be decent human beings? Too much to ask, I guess. Anyhoo, to veer wildly off topic ...

Happy Halloween! Hey kids, you wanna see something reeeeally scary? The Davely News has you covered with the greatest horror movie you've (probably) never seen. And there's quite a story about the movie itself too!

That's the Davely News for you. Just writing about whatever and putting it out there, free for you commie Wonkers to seize the means of production and redistribute to the masses! As always, No AI slop, ever! Read, like, share, what have you, it don't cost nothin'!

You mean back when Jim Crow -- which Russell Vought & Kevin Roberts & Donald the Racist Trump & all the racist Trumps & everybody who subscribes to the Project 2025 mission even as they lie about never having heard of it -- was a closed fascist state (to which they'd like to return)?

Trump rally attendee: Well, in the late 70s, I was a little too young to go to South America for the Jonestown Massacre. But this is as close as I'll ever get, so that's why I'm here. There's nothing like seeing a cult right up front.

He is not. In the clip, he is wearing a t-shirt that just says "DEATH" in a large font.

Being released's avatar

No. He managed to say live on TV that Trump supporters are cultists. The Fox guy cut away quickly.

EyeQueue's avatar

That is hilarious. Thank you!

Ha, no. Master troll. Fox dismissed him very quickly. "Maybe this is not a Trump supporter."

#1 trending on Bluesky, so it's getting a lot of attention.

Yup. His look led them to believe one thing and they fell for it. They didn't even need a baited hook, they jumped right in the boat.

I haven't tried it on an ereader. I wasn't sure how easy it would be to navigate.

Probably easier than trying to wrangle the weight of that huge tome when I'm reading in bed. :/

Thank you for teaching your son that being understanding and empathetic to the opposite sex is right and a good thing. It's shocking to me, a child of the 70s, that male/female relationships have gone backwards instead of forwards. I met my to-be husband senior year during college -- we were friends first because we just liked being with each other.

SkeptiKC's avatar

That's how paul and I wound up together. We became friends on smoke breaks at the long-term care center where we were employed. He was more than a tad impressed with my knowledge of electric guitars and heavy metal history.

Let's just say that when he came to my house to visit we both decided to turn up the volume on the music and our relationship [wink-wink/nudgep-nudge].
