I would actually question whether the "business community" as a whole is violently opposed to paid sick leave. From the management side, the point of sick leave isn't that the poor sickie gets to recover, but that he or she might not infect others and cause a *gasp* loss of productivity.

Perhaps Republicans would be more agreeable about this if personality disorders were included as qualifying conditions for sick leave.
