I think that's correct. Having said that, my kid has a high school friend who is the son of religious fundamentalists. They just discovered that he's gay, and kicked him out of the house. It's horrible. Shameful. He's 17.
You should correct your headline, as they did not actually make anything illegal. That certainly doesn't make their opinions any less horrible, but the point is to scare parents by making them think it's illegal, and we shouldn't do their bidding by creating the wrong impression.
