again: interconnection would not fix the problems and there was no fucking way to fix the grid in 5 months. could we have spent more time during the legislative session on this issue? yes. that doesn't mean it would have been fixed in 5 months either, but at least we wouldn't be spending money on lawsuits to defend unconstitutional laws that we could be spending on the grid.
they're using solar micro-grids in the Permian for extraction operations and doing some battery pilot projects as well--those fossil fuel execs want those patents. and we weren't asked to conserve on Sunday because solar over-performed its projections.
I'd like to see them add some solar panels to the roof of the Capitol since that's getting some much needed repairs. (there were like 1K cracks in it.)
Aaannnd... the TX governor is busy twitting about signing omg such important stuff: he's giddy about declaring TX sovereignity (again) wrt federal regulations/laws/policy.Some of the replies are hilarious... and righteously ragey/stabby. :-D
Tragedy of the Commons is fascinating from a teaching standpoint. Research shows that you can teach counterexamples all semester, and in a few months the students only remember Hardin's idea. And the implicit policy remedies (privatization, etc).
I'm a hippie capitalist: house in Maine has such good solar gain that our thermostats won't trip during the day on a sunny winter's day, and we make a silly amount of electricity on our roof...
Not just better quality, but higher wattage panels. Inverter quality is a huge improvement, which also means panel production jumped.
Better panels means a smaller array, which decreases cost. Still, panel price is a small portion of installation cost, with labor being the biggest item.
interesting! I hadn't seen that before, but it articulates really nicely. That would be perfect for shading picnic tables, etc.
That's awesome. It's a good feeling to be putting energy on the grid and offsetting (more than offsetting) your own household use!

fixing things takes time and money.

Why not combine the two? WALL topped with PV, with sections separated by wind turbine pylons.
"AVERAGE" monthly power consumption for Texas households is 1174kwh/mo.
HOW? How do you live that idiotically?
jfc. My average household electic is around 140kwh.And I live in AZ fergawdsakes.

You get what you pay for.
Isn't his wife Hispanic?
I don't know about CA incentives, but the Biden administration did extend the federal incentives and reset them at 26% for 2021...
