I lived for a time out in far west Texas (Amanda Marcotte's old hometown, as a matter of fact). With the nearest PP clinic 200 miles away, it was enough of a hardship for low-income women to get routine care. Those that could crossed the border to Ojinaga Chihuahua, which was a hell of a lot closer than El Paso. While Mexico has universal health care coverage, and cancer screenings are free, obviously Texans are not covered. Maybe Texas should just pay IMSS (the Mexican health system) to handle their screenings, since (technically, wink-wink, nudge-nudge) abortions aren't legal in Chihuahua.
