We have no idea at all whether Gerald Daugherty is any good at county commissionering. But he's made the awesomest campaign ad of 2016, and for that, he probably deserves to be retained on the Travis County Commission, where he's a lonely Republican among a bunch of Democrats.
I hadn't been paying much attention to this race because a) I was already supporting David Holmes and b) I was supposed to maybe, possibly work for (you can't really know whether or not you'd be on a campaign 3 years after you were initially told, "yeah, I'm gonna run and I want to talk to you about the campaign", but I digress) David and then Big Mamma had to morph into the Prima Momma so that gives me a sad.
however, here's some fun shenanigans Daugherty has been up to:
told residents of a neighborhood that was flooded that he didn't know they existed and were not a priority. https://www.facebook.com/je...
sad he was "proud to support DJT" before going on MSNBC this morning and saying he'd tell us after the election whether or not he'd voted for DJT. https://www.facebook.com/Ho...
claimed the Austin American-Statesman had endorsed him when they'd clearly said in May that they were not issuing endorsements anymore. http://www.politifact.com/t... (though, to be fair, they had before the primary and he's not the only person who's carried this one over.)
only commissioner to vote against increasing the homestead exemption for seniors: https://www.facebook.com/Ho...
and said he didn't really care if indigent defense attorneys were not paid well enough to provide a fair defense: https://youtu.be/_7tftUnn7Gw
also too, as mentioned, the SH45 extension would be crap. it wouldn't provide more traffic capacity over all and it would pollute Barton Springs (which he thinks is cool, but not cool enough to protect even though the Endangered Species Act requires it because: salamander that only lives at the springs) and the Edwards Aquifer (where we get all our drinking water).
I will have you know that at David's house warming a few years ago, he turned the garishly purple master bedroom into a photo booth before he got down to work undoing all the weird shit the previous owners did.
I'm sure that they'll also release the files on lil' marco too, when he was 14 he lived with his sister and his brother in law. I'm sure marco never noticed the room IN THE HOUSE WHERE HE LIVED, that was stacked to the ceiling with bricks of cocaine. then after this brother in law got out of jail in 2003, marco pulled some strings to get this ex felon a real estate license. those files are coming out any day now I'm sure
Riders prefer more trains, for the flexibility. Railroads prefer fewer trains for economics of scale and scheduling issues. It's always a balancing act.
There's an interesting statistic about light rail that you rarely see: in general when a rail commuter system is installed, ridership exceeds the one-year projection in the first few WEEKS. If it's there (and goes places people want to go) people will use it.

The steer deserved better.

I'm not sure that was even beef. But it was surely hammered.
I'd sell mine in a hot minute even today. rawr.
10th power or GTFO, biotches!

The guests had beers, there was a bottle of red on the table but none in the glasses. It looks as the food was the only one getting hammered.
I don't think I could function in such a tidy home. Looked like a Marriot Residence Inn.
OTOH, I wouldn't let cameras in my house in its current state.
this? plus saddle shoes?

What about Demon Sheep?
Toronto. Yonge-Bloor subway station. 4 PM.
The Ten Most Wanted list ought to be interesting:
1. Víctor Manuel Gerena [D]
Classic!
I like living across the street from the Schrödingers. I can find out if they're home by opening their front door.
