Oh. I thought they removed the letter "x" because it looks like a cross tumbling over. The cross is always to be depicted straight up!

<snark off> We went to a back-to-school night meeting in my daughter's 7th grade science classroom and the teacher was reviewing the curriculum for the parents. It included -gasp- evolution and I felt so awful for that teacher. She picked the most innocuous example of evolution (horses were once small animals with padded feet) and she clearly was braced for some serious resistance from the many Bible thumpers who live in our area. Of course the thumpers could home-school, but wages in our area are so low that most households have to have two working parents. And guess who votes for the politicians whose policies all but guarantee those low wages? but those politicians know how to work the Bible thumper vote. Anyway I was glad to see that the teacher grasped evolution but I can only imagine the pressure she works under. <snark on>

hmph. Some things never change. Twenty-five years ago I worked for a textbook publisher, and we were kissing Texas's ass even then. You know, for money.
