Today's prog-libs would do well to ask the olds about the alliance of the Movement with certain churches back in the late 60's-early 70's. Believers and non-believers can have respect for one another, agree on some important issues, and 'do the Lord's work' together.

I don't know how it works in America (I'm British,) but sometimes in institutions over here they have an ordained minister for one religion, but he or she provides religious services for members of any religion, and the chapel or worship space will be multi-faith. It wouldn't violate separation presumably if it was just a service for any religious person to take five minutes, or even just get their prayer mat out if they're Muslim.

And the Grand Panjandrum of the Russian Church (what is his actual title?) is under Putin's thumb. The Church is a branch of government. A very old and conservative idea.

It doesn't matter. The Church is a top down hierarchy. Well over 90% of American Catholics have or do use birth control. But they are still very bad Catholics because of it.

For the changes to be permanent, they have to come from the top. The problem is any time you are dealing with an organization this large it has to filtered and interpreted by every one below the top until it gets to the laity. By that time, nothing will get changed.

Like I say, it will take a few generations.

Man to Rabbi: Oy, Rabbi! The thing that has happened! My son, who I raised in the faith, came home from college and told me he's become a Christian. Rabbi, what should I do?

Rabbi: Funny you should come to me ... not so long ago my son, who I raised in the faith, came home for a visit and told me he's converted to Christianity, too.

Man: What did you do?

Rabbi: I turned to God.

Man: What did God tell you?

Rabbi: God said, "Funny you should come to Me ..."

I've got a genuine lobotome right here!

https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

One nurse, familiar with the procedure, said that when operated, the lobotome makes a sound like the tearing of cloth.

Afterwards, patients never inquired about what happened to them, or why it was done. Occasionally, cerebrospinal fluid would leak from the patient's nose, but this was considered a minor side-effect.-------All this is true.
