I've seen the effect of covid on wage negotiations first hand, our company was due to give us the first raise we've had in 15 years, but thanks to the sudden availability of desperate job seekers it's not going to happen. It doesn't help that our union is defanged by R policies (and that probably 2/3 of the folks I work with vote Rump, despite being utterly dependent on our union contract).
