I don't have much more sympathy for Page and Strzok than I have for any other prosecutor and cop who fail to disclose their sexual relationship. It bugs me they were so arrogant that, at some point, they thought a trial lawyer responsible for prosecuting cases arising from a counterintelligence investigation could fuck the lead investigator and they'd be able to hide it. Bonus points for recognizing the potential problems, discussing them, then just forging right the fuck ahead. Stunningly bad judgment.
Well now we're down to four top candidates who all have pretty bad records on racial issues (Biden, Sanders, Warren, Buttigieg). Assembling a coalition to actually beat Trump is going to be that much harder now.
If bad judgement caused you professional ruin, there would be no Republicans in Congress or the Trump administration. In fact, there would be no Trump administration. And several Democrats would be sitting at home too.
