Of that number, an equally huge number identified as Christian.
If I had a nickel for every pastor, priest, reverend, father, or chaplain who asked for "mercy" on behalf of a (male) congregant who was convicted of first degree sex crimes involving children under 12, I'd have a whole lot of nickels.

I've been listening to a CBC podcast called The Devil You Know about the Satanic Panic of the 70's and 80's. In talking about it they draw the parallels between then and now, and as someone who lived through that era it is fascinating (and infuriating) to see just how much we haven't changed. The real threats to children remain the same, but many people would rather make up a Satanic/trans/gay/immigrant boogeyman than admit that it's the uncles and fathers and pastors and neighbors, etc that are causing the harm.
To say that Minaj's husband and brother are sex offenders leaves room for the kind of dissembling that Minaj engages in when she suggests that her husband was merely a teen who was precociously intimate with his girlfriend. In fact, he forced the victim off the street and attempted to rape her at knifepoint. She and her husband have harassed the victim ever since. Her brother is serving 25-years to life for repeatedly raping an 11 year old. This is all MAGA normal for Nicki Minaj. Her excuses for her rapist husband are as fake and misleading as the pictures she posted of Jay-Z.
