Somewhere — perhaps on a Chinese billionaire's yacht — Steve Bannon curled up into a fetal position, clutching a battered copy of his favorite novel, The Camp of the Saints, and demanded someone bring him a fourth or fifth shirt to put on over the ones he was already wearing.

...Dok, this is so good i feel like you're flirting with me. jfc ow my sides...

Oh they're off on the assimilation race again.

Like they did the last time with Italian immigrants and before that with the Irish immigrants, they're going to start declaring sufficiently light-skinned hispanics as "White" Have already rung in to the "Ectually..."posts from indignant white guys about how "Hispanics" aren't a thing, and sufficient numbers of them are white enuff to bring back the "proper" balance...

I cannot for the life of me remember the title of the book, or even the author's name, but somewhere at home I have a book about a group of immortals living in the 22nd(?) century. They each gained immortality from some traumatic experience that almost but not quite killed them -- sort of like HGttG's learning to fly by falling without hitting the ground -- and one of their number was Jesus*. Their immortality made them prone to a particularly nasty form of cancer, where their immortal cells started growing uncontrollably. What brought it to mind was that in this future world, the national language of the US is Spanglish**, and 99% of the population are people of blended ethnicity whose skin color is more-or-less caramel colored. Pure blooded Caucasians are a tiny, inbred minority who are treated as an endangered species because of the multiple genetic issues that have arisen in them.

Anyways, some days I wonder if we're actually going to end up in that future.* - Three guesses what his traumatic experience was.

** - What we call standard English is referred to as "Twentieth" and is used as a "secret" language between the immortals, who have all been around long enough to remember when it was widely spoken instead of being a nearly dead language.
