The Stephen King Wiki page for It (linked in my write-up) has a list of appearances of the creature; it's is longer than I would have expected. In doing my various bits of research, I saw that the upcoming "Welcome to Derry" series on MAX (eh, I don't love the rebrand, but whateves) will go into the origin story of It. I'm intrigued.
In "The Tommyknockers", the village sends two still-normal looking young people to Derry to buy batteries. On the way through town, they see two enormous orange eyes looking at them from a manhole.
Bigger picture: Rite Aid joins other drugmakers that have declared bankruptcy due to opioid litigation, such as Mallinckrodt (OTC:MNKTQ), Endo (OTC:ENDPQ), and Purdue Pharma. Drug distributors AmerisourceBergen, Cardinal Health (CAH), and McKesson (MCK) and pharma giants Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) and Teva (TEVA) have all agreed to pay billions of dollars to settle their opioid-related liabilities. As for Rite Aid, the Department of Justice earlier this year alleged that the company deliberately filled unlawful prescriptions for opioid painkillers, including fentanyl and oxycodone.
Hey Fix News! and Republican shills.....maybe the fucking fentanyl you ascribed to illegal immigrants is really coming from inside the house.
Don't panic about NZ, the mainstream 'right' here would fit right in with moderate/centrist Dems in the US. The ones to worry about are currently on the fringe. The NZ First party in its current form is perhaps closer to the US Repubs. They might end up as a coalition partner to the majority party but won't have major influence.
God, that poor little 6yo who got stabbed. Cannot read that article; he could be my daughter's buddy at school. Murdering a baby like him; it was evil.
I trimmed my whiskers for Scary Oke, going for the most riduculous look, with sideburns extending below jaw, a really, uh, whatever, horsehoe 'stache, and a soul patch. Picked up a yard sale wig that i'll top with an aussie leather hat with a crocodile hatband studded with croc teeth. A recent yard sale black shirt has little dots on it that closer inspection reveals to be skulls. Kinda thinking of a white disposable coverall as a nod to the no pants movement. Almost have to go with the black army boots if so, my little droogies. As for a jacket, I picked up a Jos A Banks Tropical Blend gray herringbone blazer, with one sleeve sunfaced to babyshit brown. Open to suggestions on methods and materials for further zombiefying the jacket.
Bloomberg has a nice snarky take on Sam Bankman-Fried's shenanigans: "If you prepare a balance sheet for a lender and your boss says “why don’t we present this information in a different way,” you probably need a lawyer. If you prepare SEVEN BALANCE SHEETS and your boss is like “let’s go with Alternative 7” then one of you is going to prison absolutely forever. Caroline Ellison smartly decided it wasn’t going to be her."
For those of you who've been reading my posts about my sister-not-in-law (cuz despite nearly 30 years together, we're still not married): word is she's at the boarding gate (not sure if she went back to Tel Aviv, or is still in Haifa) to fly to Greece. We're not sure if she's going to get out on this flight, and less sure about how she'll get from Greece back to the U.S. (there have been issues due to her losing her passport when they left the bomb shelter on Sunday or Monday).
But at least it's some good news. Praying my most fervent atheist prayers for everyone, absolutely everyone in this awful war.
Follow up: she made it to Athens (Greece, not US) - unsure how it will go from here, but she's out of the fray, at least. She's safe; I'll keep praying for the best for everyone still trying to survive this war.
My CVS plays a mix of Spanish pop and hits from MTV in the 80s. I am not missing any subliminal messaging except to note that my area has lots of oldz and a growing Hispanic population. (Although I hear lots of Portuguese spoken when the "trimmigrants" are in town.)
Texas has long been known for its hyper political approach to education standards, so it’s pretty disturbing that the Houston SD is doing WORSE than that.
It's the skunky time of year again, that time when the always present skunks are out in force. The eldest daughter's dog ran into one last night, in fact. And by run into, apparently she ran straight into it, not noticing it until her head bounced off the skunk's ass. Or, as the daughter so poetically puts it ". . . her head collided with the asshole of that fucker." Fortunately, the skunk was so startled that it didn't actually spray, but now the pup has that weird burning plastic smell that skunks give off. Yay, nature!
oh yes - many skunks around the hospital I work at (which is in a house-neighborhood) - somehow they spray around the air-intake for the hospital HVAC - and suddenly the whole nursing unit smells like skunk. I'm the charge RN so staff whines to me to fix it like I can do anything about it.
It’s “It!” As in, “It” is yer hed gif source. Who’s on first? What’s on second? Here is a bit of info on what “It” is I’m talking about: https://open.substack.com/pub/martiniambassador/p/pennywise-the-dancing-clown
Brilliant! I love it.
Thanks Ziggy!
Pennywise is referenced in a number of King's books. He even made a bit of a cameo in the Kennedy assassination novel "11/22/63".
Alas, he was not in the TV adaptation. He could have taken a shot from the sewer as some conspiracy theorists posit.
Is he pound stupid?
Edit: Foolish, not stupid.
Penny wise, clown foolish.
I know I am.

Not the San Francisco ice cream sandwich? https://www.itsiticecream.com/
I want that!
Tim Curry's first or second greatest role. You must choose!
The literal Devil and Frankenfurter in that order.
He also made a great album.

Does it have ''I do the rock'' on it? Then yes, yes he did.
It's it! What is it?

I kinda feel personally attacked by how many of the songs in that "Soundtrack at CVS" article are in my current playlist...

boy oh boy! the innertubes at large are having a field day with this corny "we are the world"-thing with autotuned Michael Flynn.
someone needs to leak the raw audio is my takeaway. XD

Are we getting Wonkette coverage of Trump lawyers getting repeatedly kicked in the knackers on Knifecrime Island? https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-67123583

The CVS soundtrack story was interesting, and required more thought than I have ever put into music in a store before.
The real evil in “IT” was not Pennywise, but the adults in town. The abusers, the neglectful adults, the ones who looked the other way.
