OMG, doesn't this mean that Shrub can run again? After all, he was only elected ONCE.

Wasn't the loser-gets-to-be-Veep rule supposed to be a way of discouraging partisan politics, the way the Electoral College was?

What, no-one's picked the short straw yet?

Oh, there's tons more by now! I loved those books because Nancy (Anne of Green Gables also too) was balm for the soul of a discontented red-haired girl who'd been called carrot-top about five hundred jillion times more than she could bear. Nancy's popularity and competence, and her hair, which was Titian - not red!! - gave me hope for the future.

And thank YOU for prompting the trip... I hadn't thought about Ground Round for ages!!

How have I never heard the word "Titian" used to describe hair color before? It sounds so regal – I love it! If I had to describe my hair as a kid, "Martian" would probably be the most accurate.

Encyclopedia Brown was my gateway drug to the Drew-adjacent Hardy Boys, and they all provided a similar escape for me during my awkward, maladjusted pre-teen years, when being smart was considered a social liability.

Looks like Wonkette is playing that role for us now, and I'm thankful for it, and the fact that it often leads to wonderfully nostalgic interactions with complete strangers who give me hope for the future.

See ya around, Titian Queen!

This looks like it is shaping up to be a real Kodiak moment.

I haven't stopped being grateful for Wonkette...for the same reasons!

See ya around, Encyclopedia Brown!!

The woman can barely speak. You expect her to employ logic, too?
