Ah, the wealthy will love that 90% highest marginal tax rate.

Funny how "zero sum game" has the same effect as racism.

I always thought they were the descendants of peasants and "tired, poor, huddled masses...wretched refuse," and so on. How that makes them superior to anyone is beyond me.

My mom says women could teach until they got married, and then after their kids grew up. Says a lot of jobs were that way.

It was good if you were white, male, and had a good job. For everyone else it sucked. THAT was even an anomaly because of WWII, until the rest of the world caught up. These people today are just stupid and selfish.

You forgot having your night club set on fire. It's like Fourth of July fireworks, but with more arson.

I, for one, miss the old days when life was simpler, because mom and dad made all the decisions, and I didn't watch the news (or when I did, I didn't understand), so as far as I knew, the world was great.

I missed the height of the Cold War, but I remember lying awake, thinking about how Soviet missiles could come over the horizon with 6-30 minutes' warning, depending where we were. Good times...

The funny thing is, Russia still has this capability as do we, China too. We are still right in the middle of Mutual Assured Destruction.

It would be irresponsible not to speculate!

Maybe you should link to the actual discussion instead of cherrypicking it. https://www.reddit.com/r/As...

You clearly picked low-hanging fruit from troll users (e.g., "_The_Memer_", "CAPS4FUN"). Also, I don't know how many of your users know how reddit works, but looking at downvoted comments is not how you get a feel for the user base. For the rest of the comments (the ones you think no one is going to read since your first two were SO DAMNING), you label them racist for comments like "race-baiting is bad" (Or maybe it's because they said "race to the stars". I can't tell).

Either you're malicious, you're stupid, or google led me to a parody site. Regardless, stop doing what you're doing.

And in 1880, they pined for ante-bellum days.

Isn't it time that they realized that what they're pining for only existed in their childhood minds - with the understanding and ethics of a child?

There has always been a virulently racist streak in Americans towards immigrants, and you can find pics showing the same kind of racism to literally every kind of immigrant from every possible country. Here's an article about it--click on the picture for a horrible slideshow of 21 unpleasant "cartoons" from our past. Note the long nose as the prow of the boat in the nice drawing of the immigrant Jews (the same kind of boat that Americans then insisted on refusing entry, sending the passengers back to be slaughtered). http://www.theatlantic.com/...

Always relevant Daily Show segment (vintage John Oliver!) asking people what they mean by "the good old days" and then talking to people who say they were all shit, basically: http://www.cc.com/video-cli...

I came across at least one hardcore racist that wanted us to go back to the antebellum days. He actually tried to convince me that the Dred Scott decision was somehow still valid. I don't even think he was an old man, since he used language that made him sound fairly young to me. Than again, I could be wrong. Thankfully there are fewer and fewer people like that guy who are still around. Off course he was also homophobic in addition to being racist, as you would imagine. He tried to convince people on an LGBT blog that people should be allowed to discriminate against gay people, just because he didn't want to have to see two dudes kissing.
