As Lisa Simpson says, "You can't create a monster, then whine when it stomps on a few buildings."

Teddy Roosevelt at a campaign rally was heckled by a guy shouting "Huzzah for Parker!" (Parker was Teddy's forgettable opponent in 1904)"And why are you for Parker?" Teddy asked"My grandfather was a Democrat, my father was a Democrat, and I'm a Democrat!""And if your grandfather was a jackass and your father was a jackass what would you be?""Then I'd be a Republican!"For once, Teddy was struck speechless.

is that why they're economically anxious? they want to change parties but their wardrobe would need replacing too?

Well, there IS a chance they're smarter than Trump. They're alive.

"The Republican party is past accountability, past redemption."

Yep, so

"We need a group dedicated to its destruction while we still have a democracy."

That'd be us, right?

I mean, if not us, who? If not this bullshit, what will it take? If not here in the USA, where? If not now, with small-d democracy at stake, when? If not for this cause, why?

That leaves me/us with but one unanswered question: How the fuck do we do this?

If they sense that Trump might win again they will become the 'true believers' so fast you would swear that this never happened.

Well there's something appealing about those Lincoln Project men. Don't they have a bunch of nieces and nephews and people they can pay to make more and more commercials and mastermind more and more demonstrations of their disgust? Democrats are BUSY in the House and Senate. Except there's a guy who opens his mouth once in a while and it's so amusing and it's Sheldon Whitehouse. I'd like to see him on the news every night. I don't watch the news but I would if I could see him get up there and say something sort of severe.

That's not really true--Jill Rubin, the Bulwark folks--these were all one-time loyal Republicans and they all publicly backed Biden and in some cases the entire Democratic agenda as the lesser of two evils.

Depends on who we're referring to--Romney for example, and Larry Hogan did the "I won't support Trump, I'll just write in the name of a dead guy" thing, but a lot of them did publicly back Biden and Democrats.

Why not point out that trashing Biden day in day out is a favorite pastime now and as groundless and stupid as opposition to vaccines or any other idea Fox news gets riled about? And trashing whoever is the next Democrat will be the next pasttime. Is it impossible to stand alongside Biden because some say they don't like him-- referring to those who really really love Trump??? It ought to work with some. Anyway it could make good commercials if they made one for each year of Trump, to 3 month's of Biden.

Stop playing so nice.I had to yell at one of my cousins last week for trying to "both sides" the issues in this country by saying the Democrats were as bad as the Republicans. I pointed out all the vie shit Republicans have done since we were in high school (Reagan Years, which coincided with the slasher movie era-coincidence?) He held firm and said, " The Democrats aren't fighting hard enough." Okay, this isn't the same as just as bad as the Republicans, but I get why he perceives it that way. The media frames us as losers, the Republicans work the refs and the Professional Democrats act like they're afraid to hurt someone's feelings (i.e. white working class voters who always vote R). If every Democrat shouted from the roof tops to their voters as loudly as Republicans do about what's at stake, more Democrats and those on the sideline would vote. Stop leaving it up to World News Tonight and The NYT to tell people how fucking insane the Republican Party is and start showing examples. I know people who vote D and have no idea that QAnon is even a thing. I know people who are liberal and don't vote at all because they think the parties are the same-until I point out some of the truly nutty shit Republicans are doing. I like to send them to this very site to open their eyes. Republicans are corrupt and hypocritical and dangerous-it's time for our leaders to point it out. And to all those Democrats in office who give cover to Republicans by saying, "In private, they say this.." Either name names or blackmail the fuckers into voting for our agenda, because painting them up as principled people is not working. When is the last time ANY Republican has said publicly something nice about a Democrat not named Manchin or Sinema?

After Brownback had destroyed the economy of Kansas I was arguing online with someone who intended to vote for him again and asked him why. His reply was, "Well, who else am I going to vote for, a Democrat?"
