It's raining here too (NE Ohio) but the rain is blowing sideways and leaving long white streaks behind it =:o I hear that it might not be rain by the time I head home. Part of my job is keeping the doors open for those who might need to stop by (oh look here's one now), so no WFH for me; but it's a lovely mid-century building with woods and pretty homes around it so I am not complaining.
Same deal when I worked from home. If the physical office closed, I could still work. It only happened a couple times. And the time I spent NOT commuting made it worthwhile.
Just to ramble like Grandpa Simpson a bit ... when I worked from home, I was effectively always at work. So I made it a rule to shutdown the access, phone, and my brain at 5:00pm. But I'd still peek at email later in the evening.
Javier Milei’s government announces plan to crack down on Argentina protests
The Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, has presented a new protocol against street blockades as tension increases over the economic cuts announced this week
You get what you vote for, and Argentina doesn't even have the electoral college excuse, where a traitor can lose the popular vote but still win the election.
It's warmer here than it should be, the rain is pouring. We lost power overnight, but it was restored by the time I got up. This is because I thought the power might go out and I set everything up to make coffee without electricity. If I hadn't, the power would still be off.
Woke up at 5, wide awake, no hope of going back to sleep, rolling over in my brain things yet to do, gifts yet to buy, etc.
I have a friend who, back when the kids were little, said that once at Christmas time she couldn't go to sleep, thinking of such things, and ended up going to Meijer at midnight to buy stuff, as they are open all night.
I have a neighbor who, when she wakes early and can't sleep, goes out to exercise. Having that in mind helped me sleep in for a number of years.
I could go to Meijer now, but I need a shower and I don't want to wake mr. cc. I could go out and exercise, but it's 34 degrees.
I guess I'll have another cup of coffee. And make a list.
I wanted to be exact in how long they've been around, so I looked it up, and was reminded again that everything is older than you'd expect. The first self-checkout was put in a Kroger in 1986, if Google has their facts right.
Undeniably one of the most obscure and unusual ‘wars’ in history, this is the story of how the killing of an escaped pig almost caused a war between the United States and Britain.
Apparently trump is not only praising Putin and Orban and quoting HItler, but bragging about getting more indictments than Al Capone. And he clearly admires all four men.
All but one of Trump's heirs is from a first-generation immigrant parent. Trump himself is the son of a first-generation immigrant, as his mother moved to the U.S. from Scotland. No reporter has asked Trump yet if he feels Ivana Trump and Melania Trump are "poisoning the blood" of his Trump DNA. Nor has anyone asked if Trump feels his father's bloodline was "poisoned."
The point is that wypipo are never immigrants anywhere, because they always have a right to be there. Nobody to whom he is speaking fails to understand this point.
If those goddamned Brits can propel Rage Against the Machine's 'Killing in the Name' to a Christmas #1, I get to claim Tom Waits' 'Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis' as a Christmas song. Them's the rules because I says so.
Wait, Fukui showed up? No one's banned that guy from Wonkette yet? I kicked him off my blog ages ago. I thought the only place he could still post was "Decadent Pigdog Running Capitalists For A More Stratified America".
Potatoes (the cat) is sitting on my lap and purring purring purring. I guess I can’t be vaguely unhappy with the world right now.
Potatoes is wise.
It's raining like a motherfucker* here. Ah, the luxury of retirement to stay home listening to the pleasant pitter-patter of rain on the windows
* Technically, I don't know how a motherfucker rains, so the simile may not be apt

No more snow days now that I work from home. 😭😭😭
Ain't it grand? I may have to start an in-person jerb soon.

I hesitated on the word but decided the contrast with rain was funny.

It is 10.30pm and still warm.
And yet. In 8 hours, the first thing I do upon awakening is check out how you reprobates are going.

Meijer closes at midnight post Covid. Sorry.
Seriously? What time do they open? They got to be open by now. It's almost 7.
6, I think, so you might be good.
No, it's not. It will be abandoned the SECOND the retailers calculate out that humans are cheaper than all the "loss prevention" schemes.

I don't mind SC. The Homeland near me has a person stationed there who does a good job. I like it at CVS, too.
At my grocery store, at least, it saves on plastic. What I can load into four bags takes up nine when their employees bag it up.
Which will happen when?

Couldn’t be any worse than the emu wars
Can I point out that this only one of four conflicts over a pig?
So we blame it all on the porkers? OK.

It was a "failed legal strategy to overturn an election"
Accuracy counts.
Narrator: It was a sinister plot to overturn an election and people are getting sent to court over it
"failed legal strategy" == NOT LEGAL
They really want to rewrite history and fact
My cryptocurrency ponzi scheme where I bankrupted hundreds and enriched myself was merely a failed financial strategy and not a highly illegal fraud.

So the Voldemort comparisons were more apt than I knew...

I've played that in a brass band. It do get the crowd going, at least the kind of crowd who wants to see a punk brass band.

That and The Palmer Report, yeah. I got gallbladder to write me a letter of commendation so I'm back again.
I read that as a letter of condemnation. From gb that's should work just as well.
Did you make sure that gallbladder was deep into a Sterno and Ibogaine funk before you asked him for the letter of commendation?
