Yes people can evolve, but I think the process of evolving involves being criticized. Not to say he is ruled out forever by one thing or another, but that the next phase should be to start making certain changes, or maybe starting by indicating that he's planning on making them.

It gets complicated, but I don't think the Obama/Trump voters switched because of the abortion issue. Actually, I don't think they can be courted in any coherent way, they are kind of defined as being pretty chaotic. The people to court are the loyal Democrats. But that's all for the election campaign, the thing during the primaries is for everyone to move towards Warren's positions as much as possible.

And why can't Biden change it back after the election? He was poor on women's issues before Obama, and while he was veep Obama protected him. On his own Biden is old and NOT friendly towards anyone but old white men. And too handsy with women, even after all these years. He's not good at learning without being hit by a 2x4. And we've had enough of that shit.

NOT CALLED HIM OUT ON IT BEFORE? Does Biden need an embossed invitation to not be a republican? He's a politician - he'll follow the votes and not give a hoot as to WHY anything. Don't forget he's the credit card guy in Congress.

I don't really think Biden is one of those politicians that pays attention to an issue unless it's placed right under his nose. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that he hasn't even thought about the Hyde amendment in decades, and until his support for it became an issue he probably forgot what it even was.

If that doesn't sound like a defence of him, it's not, I'm not on #teamjoe, but I do recognize that he's probably easy to influence into doing the right thing if he got the nomination.

Judging from the giant inflatable rat and the group of mules loafing around my driveway entrance I'm starting to think so.

That’s not good enough. I want a federally funded Abortionplex in every city over 100000 population or a Miniplex within 50 miles of any point in the US. The Miniplex doesn’t have to have liquor by the drink, but must at least have a game room with pool tables, at least one restaurant, and serve wine and beer.

I haven't been on point for several decades, but I get out of bed every morning and get behind the mule and plow.

Remember, the Hyde Amendment is the GOP's indirect method of banning abortion. Planned Parenthood's abortion services can't be federally funded, but many of their other programs and services can be, and are. By convincing Cletus that none of that other funding is legitimate, and that it's actually going straight to abortion (which is in turn performed solely for a for-profit black market enterprise selling "baby parts"), the (R)s are hoping to cut off said funding and starve PP out. Cut off enough of their revenue, and they can't operate at all.

If you look at GOP budget proposals, that's their modus operandi.

1) Find excuses to cut off revenues to programs and services the GOP doesn't like, to the point that they can't properly function.2) Shut down those programs and services because they're not functioning properly.3) ??????? (what those that depend on those programs and services will do afterwards)4) Profit!!! (for the mega-rich, as all the money not going to those programs and services goes straight to them in the form of tax cuts and corporate subsidies)

I think there's a decent chance of Biden being the nominee (almost as strong as Romney's chances in 2011--though Biden has plausible alternatives, while Romney's opponents were a true clown show. But both had a lot of the same advantages and disadvantages in their respective primaries). And while he's not my first choice, he will have my full support if he becomes the nominee, not only because a second-term Trump is unthinkable, but because as president I think Biden would be likely to advance the same policies as any Democrat--it'd all be tempered through our congressional coalition and public opinion constraints. That said, vet him and put him through his gauntlet now, because if he's got a glass jaw, if he's weak, we want to know that early. If it toughens him up like steel, then good--because what the Trumpers with an assist from Russia and the "purity police" leftists will launch at him will be fierce. I'm already not thrilled by his "limited" campaign schedule which does not inspire confidence. Get the gaffes out! Face the music now! It's 2019, we have time to toughen and inoculate and weed out our candidates.

Lol! The mule is doing the plowing and taking you for a walk.

I have a large vegetable garden that would really, really benefit from having a mule and plow. Thus far, the gas-powered wall behind tiller isn’t enough and hubby is no mule.

A decision on whether to continue or abort a pregnancy should be made solely by the pregnant female and nobody else. Not the government, not churches, not men, not other women. The government has many other choices to show some support for life, babies, and maternal health. Churches are free to express their doctrine on abortion, but should have no right to have their doctrine enforced by secular law. Men don't get pregnant, and the question of who gets Viagra and who gets vasectomies isn't used by female politicians to fire up their base. There are other women who say they wouldn't or actually didn't abort their pregnancies even despite horrific circumstances. Good for them. They might be viewed as noble for having endured hardship for the sake of their faith, and many of them are, but if pregnant women lost their choices, mothers lose their moral approval for continuing unwanted or tragic pregnancies.
