"the Trump campaign has made mistakes like allowing JD Vance try ordering donuts like a real human boy."

The first mistake regarding the Hillbilly was selecting him to be the New GOP VPOTUS candidate. Most campaigns have chosen a running mate with at least some look towards balancing the ticket. But nooooo; the RINOs felt that the best choice for the Fulvous Flatulence was a mini-me who sits just below the Amber Ardipithecus ramidus on the vile/disgusting scale. The sole criterion, at least as I can tell, was someone who would proudly bear the Mango Malignancy's and the MAGA banners into the future... oh, and also someone who won't steal the spotlight from the Goldenrod Grotesqueness. Oh,

and to function as an attack lapdog biting at the ankles of those standing in opposition to his guru and mentor. Vance is every bit as stiff as Pinocchio, who also dreamt of becoming a real boy. (Speaking of Pinocchio, I have come to the conclusion that the denizens of the New GOP are reverse Pinocchios whose noses grow every time they tell the truth.)

-----

"but what we have seen from Donald Trump and what I’ve always recommended is his ability to get in front of the American people"

...and turn off anyone not already in the Sandstone Snowflake's tent; a tent that is shrinking as more and more fence-sitting and moderate Repubs are jumping ship because of the MAGA oberster Fuhrer's antics and his insistence that he would be a benevolent authoritarian, while his actions speak considerably louder than his typical word salads. His mask is slipping and the ugly orange face behind it is showing his contempt for all things American... unless of course if whatever is considered traditional will benefit him personally.

-----

"Truly, a guy like Lewandowski lecturing women about morality is peak MAGA."

Nothing pleases a MAGAdroid more than mansplaining to their womenfolk -- a demographic that the RINOs believe should be barefoot and pregnant, who never leaves the kitchen except to clean the house, do the grocery shopping, and servicing her man wherever, whenever, and however the Lord and Master wishes. (The MAGAverse will keep a couple of women around like MTG, Boebert or Noem for example for the same reason Tim Scott, Nikki Haley, or Vivek Ramaswamy are tolerated; so they can be brought out like trained seals as necessary to "prove" the New GOP is neither misogynistic nor racist.)

""Gold Star families, whose children died because of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris's incompetence, invited him to the cemetery. […] They wanted to take those photos."

I keep circling back to two main things about the invitation:

1 Did the three Gold Star families consider the feelings of the rest of the families or even think to ask if any of them might be offended? The person behind the remarkable, beautiful, perfect deal concluded with the Taliban -- while cutting out the recognized Afghanistan government from the negotiations -- has a direct connection with the deaths of their loved ones by his agreement with the Taliban. And since these three families are apparently staunch defenders of Democracy (as is any follower of the MAGA oberster Fuhrer), unless four other families agreed then the invitation should never have been extended -- majority rule and all that.

2 It doesn't matter one whit if three Gold Star families gave the Sandstone Snowflake's campaign permission to take videos and still pics in Sec 60, they lack the authority to contravene existing rules and regulations at ANC -- which were clearly detailed to the campaign prior to the "event."

"Cotton should stop blaming everyone else when this could have been avoided if Trump had any respect for veterans and fallen soldiers in general."

One problem with this sentence: the Dull Orange Dullard has no respect for anybody but himself and those he has a mancrush on like Putin, Xi, Kim or Orbán as examples.

"HEALEY: So, you know, I don't think Donald Trump can spell IVF, let alone understand what it means, because his own Project 2025"

No... no... no... no... no... a thousand times "no" Gov Healey. The Cadmium Orange Cancer repudiated Project 2025 as being too extremist. In its place he offered up his own perverted, illiberal manifesto titled Agenda47. One small problem though, Agenda47 is little more than Project 2025 slightly reworded and presented with a new wrapper.

Trump did, and still does have his own age problem. What's the point of going all out to support him so you can get Project 2025 if he just up and dies on you next year?

Vance was the most Trump-like candidate available. He's unprepared and uninterested in governance, has no ideas of his own, has no principles but has demonstrated an eagerness to pander to whatever the extremist right wants. He can be counted on to rubber-stamp whatever Project ,2025 implements, just like Trump would, and it shored up that one big weakness Trump had among the vilest of ideological Christian Nationalists, the possibility that Trump might die before they could get their Christian Fascist state.

I am a progressive Massachusetts voter, and I do not support Maura Healey. When the going gets tough, she equivocates. Won't reform the state police, signs budgets loaded with pork by state reps who run unopposed every two years, and fails to fight for funding key progressive priorities. She talks a good game, but does a lot less.

July 30, Governor signs (late) Massachusetts FY25 budget. I noted at the time: "Tens of millions cut from social programs for the elderly, disabled, and economically disadvantaged, but every dime of the earmarks that Karen Spilka and the other legislative leaders' appropriated for themselves was left untouched. A wedding venue and conference center in Ashland still gets the dough. Your grandma is fucked."

And if you don't believe me, google our governor's recent actions and inactions on shelters for homeless and asylum seekers. It's a hard problem. She's punting.

It's been hilarious watching these guys trip all over themselves to suddenly support IVF. Do they realize it's in jeopardy because of their party's own draconian bullshit?

Judge Heehaw in Alabama ruled that hey, them there embryos in the deepfreeze are PEOPLE and cannot be destroyed.

At this point I've just been telling people complaining about the Harris tentative suggestion of "maybe we should do something about the ridiculously high grocery bills" that I've heard nothing from the other camp at all. No policy, no plans, nothing.

Also I've been waiting for my entire life for those tax cuts to trickle down on me and I've never seen a single cent.

Extra rant 1,001, polls that show Drumpf with 46-47% of the vote are completely in line with what he has gotten at the ballot. The legendary "silent Trump voter" is an undead unicorn whose habitat was clear cut for toilet paper.

There was someone I didn't recognize on some deeply unserious Sunday news show that was on one of the gym TVs, and I know it was a deeply unserious Sunday news show because it had Lindsey Graham appear on it earlier and I don't know of anyone who would actually want to hear anything Lindsey Graham ever had to say, even if he said "I will give a million dollars to you, yes you personally Crashosephat T. Dumas, and all you have to do is listen to me speak this sentence" and I don't think I would make it through. Apparently it was ABC according to this here Wonkette.

anyway, I saw this person, and from one glance, I thought "this person is a joyless scold, full of self-righteousness and high on his own farts", and lo and behold, the chyron revealed he was Reince Preibus.

Watching Vance trying to order donuts reminds me of a bit from the Animorphs books, where friendly alien Ax figures he’s got this whole, “acting human” thing down and ventures off on his own to satisfy his cinnamon bun craving. And, well, I’ll let the graphic novel cover of the incident tell you how well that went down. And yet, it’s still less chaotic and more human than anything Vance or any Republicans have done lately.

I sincerely hope there are some conservative voters out there who really hate abortion and are simply appalled that it turns out Trump has zero integrity at all on the issue. He's not pro-choice, he's not anti-abortion, he'll say whatever to get elected and either do nothing or ban all abortion after 6 weeks federally or sign a law that reinstates Roe v Wade or personally perform an abortion for one of his mistresses in the middle of 5th Avenue. He doesn't care. And I hope there's a sliver of Republican voters who ONLY care about abortion and will stay home because of his shifting stance.
