Alpacas would probably look pretty good in fish hats except they are all busy looking like singers in a mod boy band. Alpaca more info into yer hed gif source: https://open.substack.com/pub/martiniambassador/p/harmony-hills-alpacas-having-a-frolic

So we have a friend from Peru, and when he came back from visiting family he brought us a round rug of alpaca wool that's about 5-feet in diameter and decorated with little alpacas around the border and dark lines running to the center, making it look like a brown and white alpaca pizza. My first thought was wow, how cool, he brought us a friggin' alpaca rug all the way from Peru, and my second thought was that it was pretty ugly. I frankly didn't know what we were going to do with it.

But a few nights later the temperature dropped, and we pulled it over us on the sofa. Miracle! We were toasty warm in seconds. So now we call it "Pizza," and whenever the temperature gets low one of us will shout out, "Grab Pizza!" and we'll spread it over the bed. Or one person can roll up inside of it, in which case it becomes "Burrito."

Herds of alpacas often show up at my gym, wearing plaid pajama bottoms and slides or Crocs, right around the time when the local HS lets out. They then sit around on various pieces of equipment, scrolling their phones and calling each other dude.

If you have fish hats, then pretty soon you're gonna have MAGA fish hats, and then whole thing is ruined.

Alpacas don't like things on their heads, as it the wild it would probably be predatory birds. I learnt that went I went walking with Alpacas for a birthday treat. They are lovely creatures

Qiviut may well be my favorite fiber. I have two balls of a 50-50 blend with silk that I have to make into something, and I have a qiviut smoke ring.

I have! I knit a scarf of a very expensive ball. I lost it, sadface.

It just hit me. Are there inexpensive balls of qiviut? I mean, they blend it with silk and cashmere and such to make it more affordable.

Obligatory: Lemons and alpacas in anime blog. Descriptions of anime may be or probably are not accurate. :D

The more recent entries have more lemons and fewer alpacas than the earlier ones (are alpacas going out of fashion?). For more balanced lemons and alpacas, start here: https://www.leetshoe.com/2013/

I have a friend whose daughter did an "internship" at an alpaca ranch when she was at the university. She used to send me pictures all the time, including after they were defleeced, or whatever it is called. I always think they are ready to say something, and they always look like they are smiling, as opposed to llamas who look like they are about to spit at you, and sometimes, do. Thanks for giving me a smile this morning.

Gah. That Klass piece on "the inversion of reality." Yet another "insightful" media critique that outlines the specifics of the problem in excruciating detail and puts forward a plan for what the media "must" do to correct it, as if the media is somehow too blind and stupid to notice what they're doing.

Dude you concluded, correctly, that the media is systematically burying any credit for Biden's accomplishments when in prior administrations they would be trumpeting them. And you concluded, correctly, that they are systematically normalizing Trump's completely unprecedented open fascism.

And you're not the first one. Not by a long shot. WHY CAN'T YOU FOOLS DRAW THE OBVIOUS CONCLUSION? This shit is deliberate and purposeful. The media, especially The New York Fucking Times, is notorious for finding new and innovative ways to report the opinions of random public citizens, almost always ignorant or biased, to the status of the underlying basic facts of our nation and has been doing it for nine years, now, ever since Cletus Safaris became a regular front-page feature. Worse, these manufactured "facts" are not a supplement to real facts, they are being used to BURY real facts.

DO YOU REALLY THINK NINE YEARS OF THIS SHIT IS A FUCKING ACCIDENT?

Hang in there, I will eventually get to the good part.

My fave comedian is Brian Regan.

One of his schticks is about getting his phone turned on when he moved.

So the phone company says it may or may not turn on his phone in the indeterminate future. yada yada yada. There is a switch to flick but the switch flicker is way behind .

So, Brian created a cheer to encourage him. FLIP THOSE SWITCHES FLIP 'EM GOOOOOOD.

Well I suggest an Orca cheer.

FLIP THOSE YACHTS, ORCAS, FLIP EM GOOOOOOD.

Tshirts are available in the lobby

I'll be here all week. Don't forget to try the haddock hash...

Remember the white gal living in a $3 million dollar house in San Diego who got busted for running a shoplifting crew? She sold the merchandise on eBay. Plus there's this entitled white man who was living in the exclusive Portland suburb of Lake Oswego who got busted for running a nationwide crime ring that stole at least 44,000 catalytic converters. But wasn't a breathless media implying that brown people, possibly connected to cartels, were the likely culprits? Yes, yes they were.

Good yet unbelievably scary news from Texas:

Semi-literate GOP rep. Tony Gonzales beat whack job gun nut Brandon "The AK Guy" Herrera in the GOP primary runoff. This is for representation in the district that contains Uvalde, site of that horrific elementary school shooting.

The scary part? the vote was 50.7% to 49.3%. Gonzales won by less than 400 votes. A gun nut almost won the nomination in a district that was the victim of horrible, unspeakable gun violence.

So far - SO FAR - Herrera has conceded and not screamed "ELECTION INTERFERENCE!!!!! RIGGED AND STOLLEN!!1!!!!1!" But he was supported by geniuses like Matt Gaetz, so I do expect some RIGGED AND STOLLEN tripe sooner or later.

I've brought this up before about the pronatalists. They are not worried about population decline. Population decline is extremely easy to solve on a national level - simply increase immigration. The simple fact is they are worried about race.

Expand full comment

They actually talk about that in the article. The couple profiled think it would be a bad look for a high income (white) country to be importing labor from a low income (black) country. Parentheticals mine. Seriously, they are just concerned for those low income countries and their own population issues.

Expand full comment

I also don’t understand how anyone can believe “we won’t be able to feed the old people” if population decreases.

Having more cogs in the system isn’t the only source of future income. We could pay working class people MORE to do the actually necessary jobs and let shit like telemarketing and McDonalds cease to be. We could go back to taxing the fuck out of the ultra rich to pay for stuff like social security and care homes.

Seems to me the Natalists are an unholy alliance between racists and rich people who like having sex a lot more than they like the idea of paying fair taxes.

“I’m going to selfishly have kids to edify my own sense of importance, knowing the world is on a collision course with multiple crises” is fine for narcissists with trust funds. I pity their kids.
