According to the article I saw, they turned in pro-forma resignation letters as is done at the end of every administration, and Trump accepted them. So, to be accurate, they were fired, since these weren't voluntary resignations.
I haven't been to many of our national parks or monuments, but I'm always impressed as hell with the people who work there. They've always been smart, informative, and friendly.
