I had to bounce over to TikTok - ohhhhh *that* stanley cup, not The Stanley Cup! (Only on cup 1 of my morning coffee)

Stefanik cares about inmate welfare now? That's new.

Really doesn't jive with the countless low-level black and brown dug offenders who've been brutalized by the system since, oh, the 1930's without a glimmer of interest from anyone on the right.

There definitely are two systems of justice, but not like Elise thinks.

While Eartha Kitt was always my favorite Cat Woman, Adam West's Batman really had a thing for Julie Newmar's Catwoman

Hey Wonkette, have you thought about auctioning off a week of just cat pictures instead of the usual goobers? I would donate $10-$20 easy for a week of this

Seems like two interviewers who were NOT giving the idiots a pass? Yay?

Gleep's avatar

would it be too much to ask the empire state to do the right thing this cycle and eliminate Stefanik's district?

Michael Bowen's avatar

Unlikely. It's a huge district - almost a quarter of the state - and there just aren't enough Democrats up there.

That little spot that juts northward into her district, I assume those are the Democrats?

The Albany and Saratoga Springs area.

That story about Eartha “The most fascinating woman I have ever met*” sucks all the lunchtime wrath I worked up reading all the purity voters and unreconstructed Berniers fulminating in the comments section of Robert Reich’s Substack comments. Thanks for it!

I'm not a centrist, troll, I'm a member of a coalition. Coalitions start up when you have a powerful enemy to defeat.

insolenthedgehog's avatar

Pretty rich castigating others for hypocrisy and duplicity when you a few short days ago advocated revocation of the First Amendment. Not modification, not addressing misinformation spread, saying - and I quote - that it "has to go."

Trollish troll is trolling.

I absolutely refuse to help Churchill's fight against the Nazis because of his genocide in India!

"STEFANIK: We will see if this is a legal and valid election."

That's easy: we'll know the election was legal and valid when Trump wins. Elsie is auditioning for the role of Pence AND "Mother".

Thank you, Michael, for aligning Speaker Johnson with "the banality of evil." Hannah Arendt would surely agree.

Michigan GOP could use a state party chair. They keep their clothes on, though, because it's colder than fuck.

So unfair! He's CHRISTIAN. And it was just a little ziegling. Nobody cared that he was a ziegler before.

Also, too: WhAT THE FUCK, DAILY BEAST? "Fired after threesome" is a hell of a fucked up way to say, "Fired after credible accusation of rape."

The threesome isn't the scandal you melon-fucking bluetooth assgadgets.

" it was just a little ziegling."

Not even 4 inches...

Ooh sweary nice. 😆

Extra upfistings for “melon-fucking bluetooth assgadgets”!

Just_Jim's avatar

To the Christianists the threesome is the scandal not the rape.

bluePNWcats's avatar

We joke, but that's literally the damn truth. I can guarantee you that there is a sizeable faction of Christofascists who believe that woman was just asking to be victimized because she put herself in that situation and got that man all worked up. Can you even believe she said no after all that? Brb. Going to hit something that won't get hurt by it. 😡🤬

Just_Jim's avatar

I wasn't joking. Did you hear Rush Limbaugh's segment where he literally did not get the concept of consent? He was like so if two guys agree, or two women agree it's ok, but if one doesn't agree it's wrong, like he was just incredulous at the very idea.

That's a common failing of the Christofascists.

Just_Jim's avatar

My bad. My comment should have said 'Rush Limbaugh (who's still dead) had a segment where . . .

The GOP is not interested in resolving the border issue. If they did, they would then have - nothing! Oh wait, more tax breaks, and repeal Obamacare and SS and Medicare other truly wonderful ideas. That is, nothing!

Cheetara actually made an appearance last week.

"Ziegler . . . has faced calls to resign from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sen. Rick Scott and Rep. Matt Gaetz."

Jeeze, even those guys don't like him?

That's a pretty exclusive club he's in!

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

The only one who hasn't called for him to resign is Jeffrey Epstein.

bluePNWcats's avatar

They just don't like him bringing any attention of that kind in their directions. Wouldn't want people starting to look real close at YOUR past history huh? 🤔

UnDrewsual's avatar

"Johnson fails to see how this action actually curtails what Republicans want."

Only if you believe Republicans actually want to halt immigration. They don't want to do anything, they just want it to LOOK like they are and that those evil liberals are stopping them.

It's like abortion. They used to pass draconian laws and bans that they knew would get struck down. Then they could talk about how they were fighting to save babies but (political opponent name here) is preventing them. But then Roe got taken down, all of their abortion laws went into effect, and everyone can see just how bad those actually are. Not only that, but it's so bad that they can't really run on it anymore.

So they've started to focus on one of their other long-time talking points. They like to campaign on the "border crisis" (or whatever they are calling it at the time) since it helps get the vote out, but they don't want to actually stop it, they just like to make it LOOK like they are by "hurting the right people" as their base would say. (Some do, sure, but I think most of them crowd just like having it as something to attack opponents over)

tegrat's avatar

exactly, they got nothing except pretense.
