Loved this chapter! The life expectancy part - I have thought about that too, in a scenario where this actually happens. Which I hope it does not. Sigh.
I don't understand why there seems to be so little interest in this story here. It's a good read and well worth anyone's time. I pitched in the price of a good e-book a few weeks ago and have no regrets.
Good chapter! Liked hearing more about the big picture and history of The Split. Not quite the infodump I predicted last week, but we're getting there!
I'm having the same issue with The Split as I do with all serialized works - I want more, more, MORE and I don't like waiting :( I'm the person who reads the last chapter before I read the first chapter of a book - I can't concentrate until I know how it ends. Too nail bitey!!
Too many of Stimpy's tense references to the confederate association of seditionist states that separated from the former USA in this story are all too wincingly timely and familiar.
At this point in time "The Split" sounds far more like a history book than historical fiction.
Who got the nuclear arsenal? Seems that might be a point of contention, and of great interest to other nations...
I wonder what would happen if the real Ren and Stimpy tried to help smuggle a trafficking victim to safety. Stimpy would probably eat them.

Same! Apparently we are a significant percentage of readers, like 20%.
[chilled shudder of grim recognition]

“Totalitarian-moron states,” Stimpy uttered under his breath."
"Totalitarian-moron states" is a keeper...
