Just remembered that "the Super Friends" is the name given to Supergirl and her crew on her CW series. Cruz would really have a fit with that one. This modern incarnation is very much LGBT-friendly. supportive of aliens (their analog to immigrants), and had a "Say Her Name" shout-out.

Really good, though. Except when events (such as Crisis) started interfering with the show's ability to tell its story.

When Freeland is now on a world where Kryptonians, Martians, and speedsters are all roaming free, the doings in Freeland make no sense.

Ayn Rand's Playhouse? Not likely. It would have been Ayn Rand's Guesthouse (or Toll House) where she charged the neighborhood kiddos for concessions and rent for the games. Later on she would move to a cove rcharge business model and still find an excuse not to refund their deposits.

Learning that song cemented my atheism. You’re going to teach that song in 1985, the year of We Are the World, and expect kids to not question why, if Jesus loves all the children of the world (red, yellow, black, and white),are there kids my baby sister’s age starving to death in Ethiopia. I didn’t bother asking a grownup that question because I knew there was no answer that wouldn’t be bullshit. You know, I guess most kids *didn’t* question it at all, but also as far as I can tell from my mom’s hometown updates, they didn’t learn the intended moral of the song either.

Iirc, Sesame Street has been pretty “woke” from day one. Cruz is just a new face on the same asshole that fretted about them having Black people in the mix back in ‘69.

The orange reflection on the underside of the kepi visor is a nice touch. Truly a quality piece of work (the picture, not the subject thereof).

Looking back, I think it played a part in shaping my outlook on the world. Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean that there isn't a logical explanation. I am pretty sure that has helped keep me from believing in some real BS over the years.

Did I see correctly? Did Aquaman exploit the gentle creatures of the sea to save some village? What is the payoff for the whales? Do they work in shifts? Is there overtime paid? Do they receive vacation leave and medical benefits?

I have to revise my opinion of Aquaman if it turns out he is just another white guy oppressing the whales!

That's the trouble with the New Testament. Jesus doesn't do nearly enough hard-core smiting of the people who deliberately twist his words. No pillars of salt, no torn apart by bears, nothin'.

Can confirm. All children are selfish, scheming, psychotic monsters with no concern for anyone's wellbeing except their own and limited ability to see even those closest to them as people until they're fully socialized, which goes faster the wider their social group is. You can watch it happen in real time!

It was kept off the air in Alabama because it was integrated.

I'm sorry, I'm supportive of artistic freedom, but that's too much. Superman with a crewcut is a bridge too far.

Not to mention After-School Specials!
