You are wrong. Biden can not win. Don't you get it? BIDEN CAN NOT WIN. Get used to the truth. The fascist traitors are going to win because democrats want to pretend Biden has a chance. The only thing that can save democracy in America is the senile dipshit stepping aside.

Of course Biden can win. That's why I am 100% Biden/Harris 2024. It doesn't change the fact that this kerfuffle has been a liability, and puts us in a weaker position then we would have been if it wasn't a liability. Ignoring it or pretending that it isn't a liability doesn't make it any less of a liability. This isn't rocket science for Christ sake. Let's deal with the fax on the ground. Let's deal with the arguments. Putting your head in the sand and pretending that they don't matter doesn't help us. You are trying to keep the ocean back with a broom. Go ahead and yell at the clouds if that makes you feel better. But screaming at everybody who disagrees with you doesn't fix anything. Let's look at the hand we've been dealt and play it responsibly. Wishing that people who disagreed with you would just shut up isn't going to get them to shut up. But talking about it honestly and responsibly will help the dust to settle. You are really tightly wound, and I completely understand that. But stop being a jerk

Or Joe Biden could resign the presidency, making Kamala Harris president and giving her access to his campaign funds. There’s no chance he’ll do that, but it’s the only chance we have of beating Trump. Biden defending his accomplishments does not tell us if he’s capable of winning. That’s not the media’s fault. People saw him in that debate. It was terrifying.

I've heard there was just a meeting Biden had with a bunch of Democratic governors that seemed to have gone very well and where they all pledged their support. However, some Democratic senators are trying to find a way to replace Biden on the ballot because he's old.

As usual, some Democrats are working hard to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. They do that a lot.

Over the past few days, I have been reflecting on life in general. Like everyone else, I have only a finite amount of time and energy in this life. This is a hard truth to face. But it is the natural course of things — as evident as the progression from spring to summer, from fall to winter. This is why I have decided to ask all of you, my fellow Americans, to send me pie. Delicious, delicious pie for me to eat. Coconut cream. Banana cream. If you're feeling generous, coconut-banana cream, with perhaps a paper thin layer of bittersweet chocolate between the crust and the filling. And of course, with the inevitable change of seasons, pecan. I promise you, on my honor as a patriotic, freedom-loving American, that I *will* share some with my husband, perhaps more than one piece if he's especially good.

Thank you, have a wonderful weekend, and God bless the troops.

*shrug*

I figure, as long as we're making up speeches, this will do as well as theirs or better.

This is... it's not often that I'm at a loss for words, but as my Dad used to say, This is the height of something or other.

The only metaphor I can think of is back when I worked in Student Health.

A very nice student came in the counseling center with anxiety -- specifically, test-related anxiety.

Counselor: Are you saying that you had a panic attack during a test?

Student: Well, no... BUT WHAT IF I DID?

Counselor: So, you have anxiety that you might have to take a test... but also, you have anxiety *that you might have anxiety*??

Student: [laughs] Yeah.

Let's not let them turn this into a self-fulfilling prophecy, guyzes.

Look, stop with all this already*.

Stop acting like this is somehow a done deal.

The election was not over after the debate, disappointing as that may have been.

The election was not over after Monday, disappointing and outright traitorous as this SCOTUS may be.

The election is not until November.

President Biden has done a PHENOMENAL job, with NO help from most of Congress -- in fact, despite determined and sustained OPPOSITION from most of Congress.

Our economy is the best in the world at the moment -- and that's not just according to me, that's according to Nobel laureate economists.

We have the lowest unemployment in 50 years, for the longest unbroken stretch of time in 22 years.

Hell, Fourth of July gas prices were the lowest they've been in four years.

If literally ANY other President had this kind of record of accomplishment, his followers would be blowing him so constantly and so enthusiastically he'd never get anything else done.

We're all terrified.

We SHOULD all be terrified.

But if the media had anything else to go on -- lousy jobs, lousy economy, runaway inflation, whatever -- they'd be banging that drum 24/7. They're on this bullshit because they have nothing concrete to point to.

Does anyone know where I can acquire a yard sign with that graphic of Project 2025 on it? It needs to be on posters, full page adds in the newspapers, yardsigns, EVERYWHERE. It completely rips the lid off any pretense that America can survive the return of the orange ogre.

I just want to scream at these people at the top of my lungs. WTFIWWY?! This isn't a fucking beauty contest. Joe Biden isn't expected to physically wrestle anybody in his role as President. What changes in his POLICY have left you disaffected with Joe Biden since the debate? Name a single fucking one. We are voting on POLICY not personality. Trump would lose both, btw. Do you enjoy civil rights? Do you enjoy voting in elections where the outcome isn't already baked in? Do you like having your rapacious student loans cancelled? Do you like supporting Democracy in Ukraine? Do you like people getting married to the person that they love? Do you like using birth control? I mean, if you vote for Trump because Biden is old, but you still love Democrats policies then you're fucking beyond stupid. The people that work for Joe ALL believe in this stuff. They will continue to work for it, every day. The rest is swimsuit competition bullshit. STFU.

We're voting policy not personality, of course, but we're also voting "person who puts together a staff and cabinet to get things done," not just one guy. We do vote for an individual, but I wish "they" (media, campaigns, citizens) would address that team aspect. It matters a ton with any nominee, but most particularly this time around.

I am dismayed that people are easily following the FUD and taking Biden being old, disabled and purportedly unfit as a given premise. So we are in the situation where a 34-count felon is not being forced out as he couldn't get hired at a McDonald's.

“So we are in the situation where a 34-count felon is not being forced out as he couldn't get hired at a McDonald's.”

That is exactly the position we’re in.

If there was a way to definitively know what course of action would bring more people to the polls to vote Democratic in November, then we could simply make that decision. The fact that this is such a contentious matter is proof that we really don't know. But nobody knows. And people don't like not knowing things. people are getting really ugly in these arguments, and it's kind of making me sick. Everybody wants to defeat Trump in November, folks just have different ideas about how to accomplish that goal. So heres where I am on it and I think I'm gonna stop talking about it afterwards.

I am voting for whoever the Democratic candidate is even if that candidate is a stick of beef jerky in a mason jar. I don't care. I am showing up to vote against Trump no matter who or what is running against him.

On Biden's age: many many many of us Democrats voiced our concerns about his age even during the 2020 primaries and election. This is not something that just got dropped on us out of nowhere. These concerns have been floating in the air for a long time, and have come from members of our own party from the very beginning. No one can claim that a bunch of us pulled a 180 in.midstream. His age has always been a liability, and now people are angry that that liability is coming to a head. Again, this isn't a rabbit that got suddenly pulled out of a hat. So while I seriously have no idea which course of action is best, nobody else does either, and that's a fact. So I kind of resent people getting pissed off at those of us pointing out The liability that we pointed out from the very beginning. Biden has been a shockingly amazing president. Oh my God, boy I was wrong about him during the primaries in 2020. He really surprised me. But everybody taps out eventually. There is a point where you just can't do the things that you were once brilliant at. And people aren't being cruel pointing that out.

My dad was a doctor and he didn't retire until he was 82. But he retired because he knew that he wasn't as sharp as he needed to be to provide the kind of care that people needed. It doesn't matter what an awesome doctor he was during his heyday , there's just a point where we can't do what we used to do. And again that's a cold heart, yelling at those of us pointing it out is really frustrating.

So to finish off, I haven't run across anyone who thinks that Biden should be replaced who isn't going to show up to vote for him if he stays in. It's not a deal killer. It's a concern for the best course of action, which again, we simply don't know, and we never will. We can just hope that whatever course of action take is the right one.

All that is why I am at the point that given this record, if Biden stays we back him. At least we know where America stands. If they long for $1.99 diesel against the background of a million dead, crashed demand and unemployment, well that ain't a Joe problem, that is an America problem. In the end you can only do so much to try teaching people they should care for others.

IMHO OHJB needs a physical therapist to lead him through him a daily and complete stretching routine. I think the biggest visual problem he has is the way he moves, which is stiff stiff stiff. He looks like he can't bend at the waist, or around the shoulders, or almost anywhere else.

If he could be seen jogging down some steps, or dancing with The First Lady, or doing stuff that looks like it takes just a little flexibility, I think that would go a long way against all this "old" BS.
