“Texas is blue. That is a hard sentence to utter.” — F. Ted Cruz

A new podcast debuted on Thursday. Have to say, kinda weird . . .

.

"Inside CENTCOM – The official podcast of the United States Central Command"

"Inside CENTCOM is a podcast launched by U.S. Central Command to introduce the incredible warfighters that make up thousands of troops protecting America forward in the Middle East."

https://www.centcom.mil/MEDIA/PODCAST/

•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•

The Military Times is not amused . . .

"It is against this backdrop that one of the architects of the Iran war strategy, U.S. Central Command chief Adm. Brad Cooper, appeared as the first-ever guest on “Inside CENTCOM,” a lifestyle podcast that debuted Thursday brimming with such vital discussion topics as Cooper’s proclivity for french fries, basketball free-throw shooting and sun-soaked beaches.

In a nation already under siege by an average of one military or veteran podcast for every five human ears, what’s one more?" –https://www.militarytimes.com/opinion/commentary/2026/11/05/inside-centcom-podcast-launches-amid-iran-conflict/

Hurricane Katrina was a true national disaster. I was part of Texas Task Force 2 that is FEMA funded. That event was heart breaking. What was appalling to me was the lack of respect to those who were already in poverty. I was yelled at for searching a "n_____r" house before search a house owned by a white person.

Life lesson: stay the fuck out of Jefferson parish.

This geezer, who is 78, thinks (if that is still possible) that geezer Schumer, of 76 years, should be replaced.

I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States. I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our Country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris. We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Don't forget that Virginia Foxx is staunchly opposed to any abortion even in cases of rape and incest. She's fully on board with having 10 yr old girls give birth to their rapist's children. She can rot in hell.

Also, she went to a segregation academy, back when it was actually called that.

Unserious people should not be allowed to be in position of governance. It clogs up society's means of bettering itself.

But you got me as far as how you police that and be fair . . .

Boebert’s sudden interest in voting integrity is a textbook example of “Irony is dead.”

The phrase is typically deployed when a public figure completely reverses a long-held, deeply public stance the moment it personally benefits them—without any apparent self-awareness.

The elements that make this a prime example include:

The Sharp Reversal: Representative Lauren Boebert has historically been highly critical of certain democratic voting mechanisms, mail-in ballots, and protracted counting processes. Her shifting to a sudden, meticulous interest in those exact systems when her own political survival depends on them is the core contradiction.

The Self-Interest Motivation: The irony is heightened because the pivot isn't driven by a philosophical change of heart, but by the practical reality of trailing in an election.

The Public Spotlight: Because both her past criticisms and her current electoral struggles are highly visible, the contrast is stark and easily recognizable to an audience.

In internet political commentary, pointing out this specific kind of situational whiplash is exactly what "Irony is dead" was coined to describe.

BustaMove's avatar

The "Irony is dead" trope would apply to both Virginia Foxx and Cindy Hyde-Smith, as both find themselves in razor-thin, uncalled elections where they are suddenly championing or relying heavily on post-Election Day ballot mechanics that their political factions have traditionally vilified or voted against.

The context for both shows a parallel situational irony:

Virginia Foxx (North Carolina's 5th District)

In her 2026 re-election bid, 11-term incumbent Representative Virginia Foxx trailed Democratic challenger Chuck Hubbard by a mere 99 votes. [https://www.google.com/goto?url=CAEStAEBxCJF19RV9dXloL9jhzBypKWt2mlGEpuoIxT2GVIoZ6f8pbYBs6ynd-pcAJ1_yxhX6DIUoIUcUqn5e65iaUZfdfwG4ZFB7uvX0SEcr_l1lZASSc2-3oj2aay-uwMVVJCRaCACe0csptG89aXnH15cY28LUqoX7pq9eeZ0zCi86FjiE_HTGy8qOYwDZq5YA0eil__eSQenrHphwzagWhBhElmh65qyN_FEQVykMGxYMTCg3zM, https://www.google.com/goto?url=CAESkgEBxCJF12D6k7TjF57PYhyQI8iQr6fyD0WfQuggdzz2FMBAFuspeWnor3wUZki7sltyIHWu56qOZrL_vjWtMZILOGSbc-Yf3rah4U9rSDEDXJkxjtIQcP_BtCdAi9h7LZoBBgqt9llISZvgb0gQJ5y5zo9gSC96LvYi1_QxDWIef9DzJ89GzeRfgQIDOVlnaNR1kA]

The Sudden Interest: Foxx immediately pivoted to highlighting that the "counting process is not over," specifically leaning on provisional, military, and overseas mail-in ballots to narrow the gap. She went as far as requesting nonpartisan election observers to monitor ballot processing and tabulation under the Confirmation of Congressional Observer Access Act. [https://www.google.com/goto?url=CAESogEBxCJF1_ds6UB067okPCrbT_vQ1f3RqoIdwUKAsbpbm_6rWgs1tbyUm0g2jRMNy-w5KudlRqbO-6JdD96e1wFSdCgGWiTJfLlzN6D0kUbnLxqC-34LkS05gkRmH2z3r1RMLbaz7vYbd6Yrbv-E8I6Mp8c89O7BJfDjb5fgb3b2H0B6ad8tcaYrjHDz0gxX4VKrASR0K-8hNIsR0LBg3FHIF84, https://www.google.com/goto?url=CAEStAEBxCJF19RV9dXloL9jhzBypKWt2mlGEpuoIxT2GVIoZ6f8pbYBs6ynd-pcAJ1_yxhX6DIUoIUcUqn5e65iaUZfdfwG4ZFB7uvX0SEcr_l1lZASSc2-3oj2aay-uwMVVJCRaCACe0csptG89aXnH15cY28LUqoX7pq9eeZ0zCi86FjiE_HTGy8qOYwDZq5YA0eil__eSQenrHphwzagWhBhElmh65qyN_FEQVykMGxYMTCg3zM]

The Irony: Foxx and House Republicans have historically criticized protracted counting windows and mail-in expansion. Watching a veteran conservative congresswoman publicly frame provisional and mail-in ballots as the "keystone of free and fair elections" because she needs them to secure a comeback is a classic example of situational whiplash. [https://www.google.com/goto?url=CAESogEBxCJF1_ds6UB067okPCrbT_vQ1f3RqoIdwUKAsbpbm_6rWgs1tbyUm0g2jRMNy-w5KudlRqbO-6JdD96e1wFSdCgGWiTJfLlzN6D0kUbnLxqC-34LkS05gkRmH2z3r1RMLbaz7vYbd6Yrbv-E8I6Mp8c89O7BJfDjb5fgb3b2H0B6ad8tcaYrjHDz0gxX4VKrASR0K-8hNIsR0LBg3FHIF84]

Cindy Hyde-Smith (Mississippi Senate Race)

Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith found herself trailing Democratic challenger Scott Colom by roughly 2,500 votes in a deep-red state. [https://www.google.com/goto?url=CAESmgEBxCJF14hGZy6ttOfYu66H8d551yAeWAkq1IlEuIrEmCbMDjZjgQi7Y4ouSdk66bcsDqLTIAOCA4PnAxtrIQGcSlNNgyqDrqChWBbZAAVS34pVOjlzO2c9G3aIU6GwcTx9-RZHKWdFbNfM3FjSgVOxHuHW4VEM284TfTlkNBghpvDKX4HX3V10rv_CvvT5kGi4MIZGWODFclbI]

The Sudden Interest: Her campaign and the Mississippi Republican Party became hyper-focused on the details of the state's post-election timeline—which allows mail ballots to be counted up to five days after Election Day. Her attorneys sent letters demanding that county commissioners meticulously separate, document, and preserve all affidavit ballots. [https://www.google.com/goto?url=CAESlAEBxCJF1_AklS3LaSX9n3pI9A-ZsgjoDjEfVS3yMwBnCzrh795km3t6lWNhNTJhr4q9BLqdBjky2rn2fltZmBGsPxPqG5W3BFPAXFXcLNCCoTyR__wf0ck3Hx5Yjp2kZAa7fipsu1RbZ3LO6F5LxPRzhNrj16rIF02kgjSpnafNjD7mEME6uUpi7_MWVbETcdhb5nsz]

The Irony: Hyde-Smith has been an outspoken opponent of federal voting protections, previously voting against bills like the Freedom to Vote Act, which she labeled a "partisan-driven scheme" for forcing federal mandates on absentee, early voting, and drop boxes. Her sudden, aggressive legal intervention to micromanage how affidavit and mail-in ballots are handled fits the exact definition of a politician discovering a profound appreciation for ballot-counting mechanics only when their own seat is on the line. [https://www.google.com/goto?url=CAESmwEBxCJF10HuAJ_kcY2m5RkbWK9b6OpGr8h_u1Wqxv1DvP2JBaRdptuuHmS9u3eRNa6nAH-N1_okvCp8Vrv3eG9ZxxNtylqLWHc7z_JKeSMTC2s0KmHvR1DmmlYNUeMyY6O14cmmUIPOsjUz_HfgkPmZyrGhyGOd41_KEEIkHLwn3kTeyLmW-l-gETADBADlcCJoza-ydyRlYa9DGw, https://www.google.com/goto?url=CAESlAEBxCJF1_AklS3LaSX9n3pI9A-ZsgjoDjEfVS3yMwBnCzrh795km3t6lWNhNTJhr4q9BLqdBjky2rn2fltZmBGsPxPqG5W3BFPAXFXcLNCCoTyR__wf0ck3Hx5Yjp2kZAa7fipsu1RbZ3LO6F5LxPRzhNrj16rIF02kgjSpnafNjD7mEME6uUpi7_MWVbETcdhb5nsz]

Both cases fit the framework perfectly: a dramatic reversal of rhetoric driven entirely by immediate political survival.

Very unusual voting patterns? Poor BoBo. This is the same algorithm nonsense Rudy G tried to waste the court’s time with in 2021. They had computer programs showing that the combination of Trump yard signs, conservative chutzpah and convenient love of Jesus made it UNPOSSIBOL that sleepy Joe Biden could win. Plus, random wingnuts saw election officials put sandwiches in their briefcases and look at them funny. Wherefore can you please to overturn the will of the People?

Cindy's loss makes me laugh harder because the Miss GOPers rigged the system so hard and they still LOST. And now hamstrung by the rules as if they can't do a recount once the count is declared over. Betchya Tater and his good ole boys are frantically writing new legislation to keep that from happening ever again, but too late for Cindy Poo Poo.

It will THRILL me if all three go down, if the voters tell Foxx to “shut up,” if Boebert is condemned to spending more time with her family, and if that lynching-curious bigot has to watch a Black guy take her seat!
